    Balanced Instrument Cables

Hi. I am looking at the page for the AT8311 series of cables (http://www.audio-technica.com/cms/cables/ac4fe6189ad66b24/index.html).
The text suggests that the cable is balanced, but the graphic depicts that the 1/4" end of the cable is only two-conductor (TS, not TRS). The text and graphic are therefore at odds with each other. Can you please confirm whether the cable is in fact for balanced signals, and therefore has a 1/4" TRS plug instead of the depicted TS plug?

Also, is the AT8390 a balanced cable (http://www.audio-technica.com/cms/cables/ac5d1ee92bbe9594/index.html)?

    Thanks and regards,
    Daniel.

    Answer:
Thank you for your inquiry. The cable is not balanced. The website mentions that it is for balanced microphones with pin 2 hot. In other words, the microphone connection is balanced but the cable is not. The audio signal is sent from pin 2 of the XLR to the tip of the 1/4 " TS.
