Comments about Audio-Technica AT95E Dual Magnet Cartridge:

This AT95e cartridge has amazed me from the second the needle entered the first track on my record collection dating back to the 1940's! The sonic clarity of vocals, the super richness of the mid range, especially in orchestrations and great resounding bass was unbelievable. For the first time, I am hearing instrumentation I did not know was imbedded in those recordings! Tinkling bells, guitar chords, bass fiddles, violins, you name it....they are there ! And, the vocals are so clear it sounds like the person as well as the orchestra are live in my room. Audio Technica 95e is amazing...and for the price is hard to beat! I am still reeling from the audio dynamics capable by this excellent cartridge! PS. The tracking is superb with excellent inner groove music as well as virtually no distortion. What a bargain!!

Comments about Audio-Technica AT95E Dual Magnet Cartridge:

The AT95E has a well-deserved reputation that need not be repeated here. But, as is my custom, I listened to a few of my favorite "test tracks" (actual music, not signals), and the added the finishing touch - a line-contact stylus. For example, I used the Karl Bohm/Vienna Philharmonic recording of the Beethoven 7th, second movement. With the stock AT95E, it sounded as good as ever. But on re-listening with the line-contact stylus, I was flatly amazed. I heard things in the orchestration that came through radiantly that I had never heard before. Beautiful! I recommend LP Gear for the correct line-contact stylus for this cartridge. It costs a few bucks, but is the perfect - I'd go so far as to say "essential" - finishing touch. You won't regret it!

Comments about Audio-Technica AT95E Dual Magnet Cartridge:

The accompanying documentation "sheet" is awful. You get one when you purchase an extra cartridge to keep on hand. You do not get one with the AT95E cartridge that comes with you AT120USB turntable. Additionally, what you do not get are any clear, easy to read instructions to perform cartridge alignment, or set overhang. You're on your own, or it's assumed that you are an audiophile. Audio Technica really should produce "how to" videos on how to do installation and proper alignment. Not everyone has access to a dealer, and even if they did, might be laughed out of the store when looking for assistance. But the cartridge does sound great, as long as you basically understand that you're completely on your own in figuring out how to properly install and align one.

Great upgrade from AT91 - from a user recently back to Vinyl, Audio Technica make great carts, I had a budget, looked and listened to ortofon equivalent, this for me was the better. By all accounts will get better once its done a few more hours. Would recommend definitely.

Comments about Audio-Technica AT95E Dual Magnet Cartridge:

An excellent all around phono cartridge that delivers on value! Clear, resolved definition, particularly in the highs, along with crisp and punchy bass. Jazz dynamics are superb, and blues play with soul and presence. This little cartridge is hard to beat, I doubt there is any competition at this price point.

I have it set at ~2.1g VTF on a Technics SL-D2 and am very pleased with tracking results and sonic performance.

                      Highly recommended!

I needed a new cartridge for my ATLP-120 Turntable so the first option was the atp-2 (which was the cartridge included in the TT), then I was told the ATLP-120 now comes with the AT95E, so after a couple of questions I decided to buy the AT95E, the design is still awful but the sound is crisp and brilliant, it manages the tracking error so good (much better than the ATP-2), I must say that the ATP-2 sounds louder, but louder doesn't mean better, great cartridge. (Thanks for answering my questions)

I ordered this cartirdge for a Pioneer PL400 that I just repaired. It had a sony shell already, so I ordered this cartridge based on reviews. I am happy to say it has never sounded so good. I really enjoyed listening to some of my earlier vinyl, and it performed extremely well.

What is the compliance of AT95e, low med or high, or in other words will it match the tone arm of vintage Philips f7213 turntable ? If not, then any other AT cartridge suggestion ? Philips f7213 tone arms are in my opinion low mass and low to medium mass borderline.

We consider it to be low compliance. Compliance is 6.5 @100 Hz, which is around 11 @10 Hz. A medium mass arm (11 to 25 grams effective mass) would be suitable. If you would prefer something a bit softer, we recommend the AT100E which has a compliance of 8 @100 Hz, which is around 14 @10 Hz.

From the images I'm seeing online, it looks like this turntable comes with the AT95e. If you want the whole cartridge, you need the AT95e. If you just need the needle, you are looking for the ATN95e.

My new Marantz TT-42 came with this cartridge installed. The turntable gives off a terrible hum as if it wasn't grounded - which it is. I am using the same grounding post on my Yamaha A-S500 amplifier that I used for the previous turntable. If I play an album, the output is all distorted. Would these effects be caused by the cartridge being miswired, i.e. the four color coded wires aren't connected to the proper connectors? My problem is I do not see well enough to check the wires myself so before I brought the turntable back, I wanted to see if this could be a possible cause of my problems.

It appears that the Pioneer PL-5 accepts a 1/2" mounted cartridge. If this is indeed the case, then the AT95E should work. However, to double-check, please contact Pioneer at: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/AboutPioneer/Contact+Us/

I have just purchased the LP120USB which came with the AT95E cartridge. My 33s sound fantastic. Can I play 78s on this?
If not, what cartridge do you recommend? The LP120USB has builtin storage for a second cartridge. Since I would like to play both 33 and 78 frequently I don't want to have to disassemble every time.
Please advise. Thanks for a great product!

I bought my AT-LP120-USB turntable before 2011 when they were using the ATP-2XN.

I'd like to replace the stylus and while I can find a replacement, I'd like to know if it would make more sense to upgrade my cartridge and if so, what I would need to do that.

The replacement stylus for the ATP-2XN cartridge is the ATP-N2 which may be available through an Authorized Audio-Technica Dealer.

Do you have the Dual cartridge holder that accepts standard half-inch mount cartridges? If you do, just make certain that the combined weight of the cartridge and headshell/holder does not exceed the acceptable weight range for the tonearm. The AT95E Cartridge weighs 6.5 grams by itself.

are at95e's magnets shielded - have a 1960's Empire turntable, told it's motor is unshielded / produces magnetic waves that might interfere with an unshielded cartridge and cause hum.

not sure if i'm asking the question the right way.

Thank you for your inquiry. The magnets themselves are not shielded but the cartridge body is. It is not unusual for motors to be unshielded, so I don't think you would have an issue.
