A-T Mics Chosen for the 14th Year at Rock Hall Induction Ceremony

For the 14th year in a row, a broad range of Audio-Technica microphones was selected to outfit the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony. A-T supplied over 50 mics to capture the audio for the 26th annual induction ceremony, which took place at New York’s Waldorf Astoria on March 14, 2011.

For the 14th year in a row, a broad range of Audio-Technica microphones was selected to outfit the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony. A-T supplied over 50 mics to capture the audio for the 26th annual induction ceremony, which took place at New York’s Waldorf Astoria on March 14, 2011. Inductees included Alice Cooper, Neil Diamond, Dr. John, Darlene Love and Tom Waits. Non-performing recipients included Jac Holzman and Art Rupe. Leon Russell received the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Award for Musical Excellence. The show will broadcast on Fuse on Sunday, March 20, at 9:00 p.m. Eastern and online at www.fuse.tv.

Audio-Technica’s acclaimed Artist Elite® 5000 Series UHF Wireless System was used with the AEW-T5400 handheld microphone/transmitter for frontline vocals on performances by Rob Zombie, as part of the Alice Cooper induction performance; award recipients Leon Russell, Dr. John and Darlene Love; and house bandleader Paul Shaffer. John Legend joined Dr. John onstage, using an Audio-Technica AE6100 Hypercardioid Dynamic Microphone, and Elton John, who presented friend and collaborator Leon Russell’s award, also used an AE6100 during the show’s finale.

The backline mic complement of A-T wired microphones included AE2500 Dual-element Cardioid Instrument Microphone for kick drum; AE3000 Cardioid Condenser Microphone for toms; ATM450 Cardioid Condenser Instrument Microphone for hi-hat; AT4050ST Stereo Condenser Microphone for overheads; AT4080 Phantom-Powered Bidirectional Ribbon Microphone for guitar amps; ATM23HE Hypercardioid Dynamic Instrument Microphone for congas; AE5100 Cardioid Condenser Instrument Microphone for percussion overheads; ATM350 Cardioid Condenser Clip-On Microphone for acoustic bass; AT4055 Handheld Cardioid Condenser Microphone for horns; and AT4054 Handheld Cardioid Condenser Microphone for background vocals.

The technical staff for the induction ceremony was made up of professional audio industry veterans. Remote recording specialists M3 (Music Mix Mobile), the company responsible for both recording the program and mixing the live feed for broadcast, used its Eclipse remote truck with Jay Vicari as Music Mixer, mixing the event’s audio onsite. Joel Singer served as Audio Truck Engineer-in-Charge, and fellow M3 principal John Harris served as Audio Coordinator this year, organizing and assigning all the inputs and microphones for the event. The P.A. was provided by New York-based Firehouse Productions. Dave Natale served as Front-of-House Mixer, and Firehouse Productions’ Simon Welch was Monitor Mixer. FOH Production Audio was handled by Ron Reeves.
