ATH-ANC33iS QuietPoint® Active Noise-Cancelling In-Ear Headphones reduce distracting background noise by up to 90% while offering the superior sound that makes Audio-Technica a world-leading pro audio company.

Engineered to create a comfortable listening environment in areas with high ambient noise, these in-ear headphones feature a miniature microphone in each earpiece that picks up ambient noise (such as traffic, air-handling systems, etc.). Electronics in the QuietPoint control module create a noise-cancelling wave that is 180° out of phase with the ambient noise. This wave acts like a noise eraser: it cancels out the annoying sounds that surround you without diminishing the audio you want to hear. The result…a peaceful enclave to enjoy the music or movies of your choice.

The ATH-ANC33iS in-ear headphones also feature an inline microphone and controller for answering calls and controlling music. The mic and controller support smartphones, iPhones, iPads, many iPods & other compatible devices. The microphone has an omnidirectional pickup pattern and it is designed for crisp intelligibility, so your voice will be clearly transmitted without having to speak directly into the mic.

This product is available at Staples, shopaudiotechnica.com, and other online retailers.

      Comments about Audio-Technica ATH-ANC33iS QuietPoint® Active Noise-Cancelling In-Ear Headphones:

Audio quality is there, however, after only two months of use, the headset started malfunctioning and causing iPod to start/stop music and jumping from song to song while in use. I tried them on another iPod and it did the same. Replaced batteries in noise canceling compartment, still malfunctioning. I had expected better quality from audio-technica and was very disappointed with this problem. They fit and feel great, sound quality is great ,but those features are a moot point when they don't work!

        Comments about Audio-Technica ATH-ANC33iS QuietPoint® Active Noise-Cancelling In-Ear Headphones:

I compared these with some over-the-ear Audio Technica (ATH-ANC9) headphones and found the noise cancellation to be nearly as good—maybe 75-80%, so I kept these. The sound quality was rich as well.

Unfortunately, within about 6 months, I started having issues with the headphones hanging up on phone calls, starting/stopping music, etc. This would happen even when the button was not being moved, nor any wires or the jack—just sitting quietly, and something about the wiring of the headphones would trigger the button function.

This unfortunately makes my investment pretty much unusable.

          Comments about Audio-Technica ATH-ANC33iS QuietPoint® Active Noise-Cancelling In-Ear Headphones:

I bought these at an airport after a flight where I had to cup my hands over my ears to hear through my iPhone headphones. The sound quality and noise reudction are very good.

HOWEVER (and this is a deal--breaker) there is a bad connection between the plug and my iPhone 6. This connection issue causes the following problems:
          1. if the plug moves during a call, annoying staticis heard on the line
          2. The it will ultimately and without fail cause the call to hang up.
          3. If plugged in when not on a call, it mysteriously activates Siri

Thus, if I'm using the headphones on a call, I have to place the phone on a table and isolate all movement of the plug, lest I get disconnected.

All-in-all, though the NR, sound quality, form factor, and price all fit the bill, the quality issues are show stopper. I will have to return when I next go through the airport.

          Very bummed.

bought these as fit was comfortble and sound was good. enjoy listening to music but find that noice cancelling housing is not very practical as clip that holds it does not keep it in place causing it to fall and pull ear phones out of ears. Given the choice again I would not purchase these.

              Comments about Audio-Technica ATH-ANC33iS QuietPoint® Active Noise-Cancelling In-Ear Headphones:

I bought these to replace Brand K 4si which were okay but not anywhere near as good as the Brand B noise cancelling headphones. (They are great but too cumbersome for travel anymore). So I checked several audio mag reviews and thought these Audio Technica might fit the bill without the cost of the crazy expensive competitor earbuds.

I am very impressed and with the compressable foam covers find them both comfortable and decent at mitigating a lot of the noise on the plane.

Sadly, the battery pack is rather heavy, with on AAA battery and keeping it clipped on to a sweater or jacket is difficult. So difficult in fact that the clip broke off exposing a sharp medal spring.

I hope that can be fixed as I do like these and save this problem would recommend them - especially at this price point.

I use this product to listen to music while I exercise on the threadmill. After using it for 2 weeks I noticed that the music started to sound muted. After changing the batteries, the problem persisted. I then compared the sound level with that provided by a regular headphone and, indeed, the sound became very muted. The noise cancelling feature still seems to work, although also at lower efficiency.

                        Comments about Audio-Technica ATH-ANC33iS QuietPoint® Active Noise-Cancelling In-Ear Headphones:

Got these at the airport as an alternative to a set of pricey noise-cancelling headphones from another brand I bought just 3 months ago. Headphones can be a bit bulky and get in the way if you want to sleep on a plane, so in-ear headphones are a good alternative (to sleep, just turn on noise cancellation without listening to any audio source). Noise-cancellation works like a charm and just as good or better than any other brand or model I've used before.
I'm keeping these In-Ear headphones and selling my other ones now. Great portability and good sound at a third of the price for what I paid for the others.

Last, but not least, one of Audio-Technica's strongest points: you can leave noise-cancellation off and still use your headphones like normal passive headphones (though I'm not sure if this applies to their whole range) - a feature that I really appreciate.

Only issue i have with any of these types of devices is the wear and tear on the phono jack inserting and removing from device. seems like mre strain relief would be used to prevent wire damage. For the price they work really nice and less bulky than set of head phones.

Hi. are there any differences between these two? As near as I can tell only the 33iS has 'smart phone controls'.

Also, do these controls work on android phones as well as iphones?

That is correct, the only difference is that the 33iS has the inline smart phone control/microphone. The controls work with most devices, incuding Android phones.

compatibility with vintage portable cassette players

I'm trying to find earbuds that are compatible with vintage portable cassette tape players. The new style earbuds being made today don't work well with the old cassette players, the sound is distorted and too loud even with the volume control on min. I am by no means technically versed in this, but I think it has something to do with the impedance of the speakers. I noticed that the ATH ANC 33is model has double the impedance of your other models. Can someone confirm for me that this model will work well with the old style cassette players?

                              • A:

Thank you for your inquiry. There are two specs to look at when determining how loud a headphone may be. One is impedance. The higher the impedance the harder the audio device has to work to drive the headphones. The other is sensitivity measured in dB. The higher the dB's the louder the headphone will be. So, a headphone with a 16 ohms impedance at 109 dB of sensitivity will be louder than one with at 32 ohms and 103 dB.

Thank you for your inquiry. If your device has the same functionality as most smartphones these headphones should work. Please note we have not test on that particular device.

                              Are these available in Canada?

I am just wondering if these are available in Canada anywhere, like Best Buy or Future Shop. Also if any are available in a web-store that is able to ship to Canada?

If not, when will they be released in Canada?

The ATH-ANC33iS should be available for purchase through BestBuy and Staples. To find out whether they will be available in either store in Canada, please contact either retailer for more information.

When I plug the headphones into my desktop computer, the music is considerably louder than the vocals - on all recordings on spotify. With my over the ear Bose headphones, I don't have this problem. How can I fix this? Thanks!

In this case, it sounds as if you are experiencing a "phase" issue with your headphones.

To troubleshoot them effectively, please observe the following:

                                1. Please make certain that your headphones are fully inserted, and that there is nothing (such as a protective-covering) preventing the connector from being fully inserted.
                                2. Please try the headphones on a different device that supports a headphone connection (such as a smartphone, .MP3 player, etc.). When doing so, please observe the above. If the headphones work on the other device, then there is nothing wrong with your headphones.

If you are still experiencing an issue with your headphones after trying the above, you will have two options:
                                1. Exchange the headphones at the dealer you purchased, pending their policy.
                                2. Send them to the Audio-Technica Service Department. For information on obtaining Service with ATUS, please visit www.audio-technica.com/service.

                                Thanks!

                              How to buy - Update?

I've had my eye on these since January. I waited anxiously for the mid-late April date and it has long past. Any update on the delivery to the US? Any suggestions on how I can get a pair, soon?

I keep throwing money at my screen, but nothing is happening. Super-excited about getting my hands on them, exactly what I want.

                              anc noise

I have purchased these headphones and would like to know if when in a quiet room with no music playing is it normal to hear a sound like rushing wind in the earphones when the nc is turned on?
What noise/sound should I expect when the nc is turned on with no music playing?
Thank you in advance for your response.
