      Comments about Audio-Technica ATH-AG1 High-Fidelity Gaming Headset:

We got these sent to my work and my supervisor told em to take them home and try them out.

The self adjusting fit is nice but it sits a bit low on my head. It feels like my ears are holding up the headset from the inside because the padding will rest on them. If you move your head around a lot or get worked up while you play these will slide around. That being said once you get it to sit just right these are one of the more comfortable pair of headphones I have ever wore. I've been gaming for a long time and have worked in radio and they are very comfortable.

I love the USB DAC but the only downfall is that the 2 m extension cannot be used with it. For PC gamers whose tower is on the other side of your desk this can be frustrating. If you don't have USB on the top of your tower you will not be able to use the DAC. The USB DAC is an obvious PC gaming accessory so I'm not sure why they would not include a longer cable or extension to be used with it.

      Overall great gaming headset.

I love these head phones but the problem is that after a bit i feel the ear cups are to hot or they get uncomfortable. So i am looking for cloth ear ups or softer ones any ideas? Or can i get the size so i can look for some that will fit?

I lost my installation card. What do the instructions say to set the Mic and Sound to? For example set sounds to none and Format 24Bits, 48000 Hz (Studio Quality)? It says this somewhere in the instructions.

The ATH-AG1 is compatible with PS4. They are also compatible with the XBOX ONE provided you get the XBOX provided that you are also using the "XBox One Stereo Headset Adapter", and that you follow all of their setup instructions with that adapter.

        • Q:

Bass of ATH-AG1 Compared vs ATH-WS99

specific about the Bass, is there any difference between both models?, I see that both have a 53 mm driver and double Air Chamber System. Should I expect a similar audio signature ?

does the ATH-WS99 Bass still has more presence?
Asked on 2/19/2015 by Riverus from Mexico

          1 answer

          • A:

Although the ATH-AG1 have nice bass response, it is designed to sound more balanced as compared to the ATH-WS99, which have extended bass response, even though both feature 53mm drivers. Also, the ATH-AG1 feature Double Air Damping System (D.A.D.S.), while the WS99 feature a Double Air Chamber System. The DADS system helps prevent spurious bass frequencies for a smooth bass response. The WS99 use the Double Air Chamber System to get more bass response without making them sound muddy.

In conclusion, the WS99 will have more bass response, whereas the AG1 might sound comparatively more balanced.

          How good is sound isolation?

My son is asking for a Gaming Headset with ANC so he wont be bothered by his brother playing Xbox ONE in the same room while he is on the Gaming PC. How well will these block external sound sources?

They do a decent job of cutting out noise but if the TV is up loud they probably wont cut it. This headset is great but it is not designed to be a noise isolation or cancelling solution.

            Answered on 1/20/2015 by Corey
          • A:

Thank you for your inquiry. The headphone does not have active circuitry to cancel noise, although they do provide a degree of passive isolation.

          Surround Sound and Mic Monitoring

I was wondering if this headset uses or is capable of surround sound and/or microphone monitoring (the ability to hear your voice reflected by the microphone without software listening).

This headset like many gaming headsets will pan the audio as the game deems necessary. It's only two speakers so the best it can do is L R.

If you have Windows you can always listen to your mic by going to control panel > sound > recording devices then double click on your mic go to listen and select listen to this device. You will listen to it until you uncheck that box.

          • A:

Thank you for your inquiry. The headphone is a stereo left right headphone. Your program material would have to provide some type of surround emulation to hear in surround sound. The microphone is not heard in the headphone unless it is configured for monitoring within your software.

Is there a mini windscreen I could use for this headset and is it on the same level as the BPHS1 or the BPHS1-XF4?

I am about to purchase this headset and am afraid I might ruin it. I also know of the BPHS1 and BPHS1-XF4 which are fantastic headsets as well and am wondering if I should get one of them instead.

Thank you for your inquiry. There is no windscreen provided with this microphone. Please note you would need different connector types for the BPHS1 and BPhs1-XF4.
