Audio-Technica has introduced a straight-cable version, ATH-M50s, of its flagship ATH-M50 headphones. Designed to provide an exceptionally natural response for professional monitoring/mixing, the headphones feature a closed-back, collapsible design with 45 mm neodymium drivers, circumaural ear pieces (180° swivel) and luxuriously padded ear cushions. A straight cable at the left earpiece terminates to a gold-plated mini-plug with included screw-on ¼" adapter.

Just got my headphones, so far its amazing. I've read that I should give it more burn in time to get the peak performance. Well I'm happy with it straight from the box. I'm glad I got this instead of the other brands. I like how it sounds good on all kinds of Genres. Bass is good , mids are good and so as the highs. Comfort wise, it fits perfect on my ear and head. I wouls say I do have a large head than an average person. So I have nothing bad or any cons to say. Highly recommend this cans to everyone who listens to different kinds of music and only willing to spend a reasonable price!!!

Great Bass, Great sounds, GREAT EVERYTHING! If you think your normal headphones are good, TRY THESE, you will be amazed as how good these are. Let me be first saying, i have $300-400 dollar headphones. I like these MUCH MORE. Cheaper but really strong in everything. They dont feel cheap AT ALL. If you want good headphone(studio/everyday use) THESE ARE IT. I have Mixed & Listened on this for 3+ hours straight and they are really comfortable. These are just really high quality! I cant even turn up the volume to max anymore, these are very good & loud, and also, no one listens to what i listen which is really good as well!

This product has single-handedly made me a fan of Audio-Technica.
It was about mid summer 2011 when I had decided to invest on a mid-range pair of headphones. At the time, my friend and I were both researching on which headphones we would buy. After a week's worth of researching, I had finally decided to purchase these headphones. My friend on the other hand, decided to purchase a different pair of headphones, that ended up costing him 100$ or so more. He was convinced that the name and the price would provide him better quality. When we both compared the sound from each, it was clear to both of us that the Audio-Technica ATH-M50s was the better deal.
The audio quality of the M50s headphones was arguably better than my friends headphones and the build was far superior with respect to durability and comfort. Since that day, I have shown these headphones to many a few of my classmates in my Digital Audio and Music Technology university program and everyone of them agreed that this was simply one of the best products they had seen for the price that they cost. Many of these people, who are electronic music producers or audiophiles, ended up buying a pair.
To sum up, if you are looking for a great pair of headphones that are comfortable, durable and hi-fi, there is simply no better product that the M50s at this price range, whether it is for production or simply for enjoying some of your favorite songs.
Easily one of my best purchases in the last 5 years.

After reading many reviews I ended up purchasing Grado SR80 and iGrado headphones. I really liked the sound from the iGrado but found them uncomfortable after about 30 minutes. I found the SR80s uncomfortable and, quite unexpectedly, I didn't like the sound from them. I returned both. I went to a local store to see if I would like the sound from the Grado SR60s, I found little difference. While in the store, I discovered Beyerdynamic headphones and tried their DTX910, DT770, DT880, and DT990 models; I was especially impressed with the DT770s.
After more research, I ordered Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro-80 and Audio Technica ATH-M50s headphones. I'm impressed with the sound from both and plan to keep both. I find the sound from each very clear across the whole range of frequencies. There isn't a big difference between either headphone and both are excellent buys; the best available, in my opinion, within the $100-$300 price range. Differences? I find the DT770s more comfortable and prefer the bass sound from them. The ATH-M50s were about $40 cheaper than the DT770s, they look better, they are more portable and come with a carrying bag.

These headphones are amazing! If you need the perfect reference headphones for the perfect price, these are it! They have the quality you want in high-end headphones, and the perfect balance you need for recording your music. I've DJ'ed a few times and played some FPS games on my computer with these as well, and they do the job right.

I was looking for some affordable QUALITY headphones and was recommended these by a friend. After trying their's I was completely sold. These are my first nice cans and the sound quality is great. I make music and use these to mix a lot of the time as I don't have very good speakers and it always comes out sounding good. They are well balanced and well constructed, I highly recommend them.
Be aware that the straight cable is extremely long, I wish I had gotten the coiled version but am happy with what I have.

I have used a lot of headphones, but I must say my ATH-M50S are by far my favorite. Not only were they a reasonable price, but when paired with my high quality headphone amplifier, they produce the best audio quality I have found, even when compared to much more expensive headphones. Bass is strong and punchy while remaining well balanced. The midrange and highs are clear. My listening preferences can be described as "eclectic" at best, and my ATH-M50s have performed superbly across classical, rock, country, and jazz genres.

Purchased these headphones after doing much research online and reading hundreds of reviews. I initially had bought headphones from a competitor but was not satisfied and had to return them. The M-50's were also in my price range so i gave them a chance and have been very happy with them. The sound quality is amazing, i am listening to music I have had for a decade and its like hearing again for the first time. I can hear things in the music i had not heard before. The bass is fantastic and definitely not over powering. The cord is very lengthy which is great when you want to move about while listening. They are portable and easily fold up into the supplied headphone bag. I would highly recommend these cans to anyone wanting superior sound at an affordable cost.
