  • Overview

The ATH-CKS99i features an in-line three-button remote that provides the ability to control volume, play, pause, fast forward and rewind music playback functions on compatible Apple devices. The remote also lets iPhone users answer calls over the headphones, or while talking via Skype or VoIP on an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch®. The microphone has an omnidirectional pickup pattern (it picks up sound from all directions) and is designed for high-quality, intelligible response, enabling the wearer's voice to be clearly transmitted without having to speak directly into the mic.

The ATH-CKS99i's Solid Bass technology utilizes an exclusive Double Air Chamber System. In addition to the main air chamber that houses the driver, the earpieces have an additional chamber that operates in conjunction with a specially shaped housing to control and focus the air flow produced by the driver movement and expand its bass output. The result is expansive, rich bass without sacrificing mids and highs.

In addition, the ear tips of the ATH-CKS99i are designed for maximum bass response, with a movable two-position post that lets wearers adjust the ear tips for the best fit, sound isolation and low-frequency performance.

    CKS99i - OMTP or CTIA

I came to know that my Sony Xperia M (2013) supports CTIA. Please inform whether ATH CKS99i supports CTIA or OMTP. If OMTP, then is it possible to convert it to CTIA so that I can use it with my xperia handset.

    Thanks & Rgds,

I see that some or all of the functions of the controller will not work on non-Apple products.

My question this time is, will the earphone still work on other devices such as Android phones and PCs? For me, it's okay if the controller won't work on those devices, as long as I can still use the earphone itself.

    Answer:
The ATH-CKS99i were made for compatible Apple devices.

"i" versions will work with Android devices, BUT WILL HAVE LIMITED FUNCTIONALITY. The Microphone will NOT work with a PC or Mac. Please see the below for additional details.

The nomenclature for A-T headphones with microphones is as follows:

    • “i” = for iPhone (e.g. ATH-CK99i)
    o Has push-button Volume Control, and center-button for play/pause – answer/hang-up

    • “iS = for all other compatible Smartphones (e.g. ATH-CKX9iS)
    o Has center-button only, for play/pause – answer/hang-up
    o Also features a volume-slider for volume-control.

The Audio-Technica Headphones with Microphones that are listed as "i"-versions (NOT the iS-versions) will accomplish the following with compatible Apple devices, namely the iPhone and iPad:
    • Feature an In-Line three-button remote that provides the ability to
o Control Volume (music playback function)
    o Play (music playback function)
    o Pause (music playback function)
    o Fast-Forward (music playback function)
    o Rewind (music playback function)
    o Answer/Hang-Up Phone Calls

If you have any further questions, please contact the Audio-Technica United States (ATUS) Audio Solutions Team at audio-solutions@atus.com

    Thanks!
