Comments about Audio-Technica ATH-CKR5iS SonicPro® In-Ear Headphones with In-line Mic & Control:
I'd like to specifically thank audio technica for these. When I first put it in my ear I was amazed by the tight and accurate bass they deliver. I didn't even think that such bass is possible in in-ear headphones. I would rate it 10 out of 10 on in ear bass. They also surpass many headphones even other high end (like Etymotic and Senheiser) on the sound stage width. LIke with other headphones these ones have their unique sound signature, which makes it sound very different with different types of music. And to really appreciate it you do need to listen to different music. For electronic music they are just perfect. Same goes for jazz, pop and most of other styles. I was always saying that in order to really test the headphones you need to listen to heavy metal in them. Heavy meta/rockl is the most difficult music style to reproduce both in headphones and speakers. Guitars just won't sound good with any driver. Here I would suggest to AT to do just a bit more work. Just a bit more, not a lot though. Its really not easy to have the headphones produce accurate mids and detail with such powerful bass and AT here comes close to impossible. Having said all that I will say that Etymotic still sound better for heavy metal with more detail and better midrange. But Etymotic has very weak bass, terrible fit and comfort and a bit smaller soundstage. All combined I really love these, great job audio technica !
