      Are there replacement wings available?

The wings that go on top of your head, is there any way to get a replacement of this? Mine seems to have broken off and wont go back on.

    • Q:

Can these headphones be used without an amplifier? Say, plugging in directly to a mobile device or computer?
      Asked on 8/5/2014 by Jackson512

      1 answer

      • A:

With any current-model Audio-Technica headphones, it is not a requirement to use/purchase a (portable) headphone amplifier to be used in addition to your playback device (such as a mobile device or a computer). However, if you prefer the sound of a dedicated headphone amplifier, that shouldn’t be a problem either.

Overall, it is your call to use (or not to use) a headphone amplifier. It depends on what you prefer.

Since Audio-Technica does not manufacture any headphone amplifiers for United States markets, if you would like any further recommendations, you would need to ask a HiFi dealer that sells headphone amplifiers.

    • Q:

Is there a frequency response graph available somewhere?

I have been looking for one somewhere, possibly someone has measured these; I wanted to have it for more accurate equalization. I figure since they're so new is why no one has released one into the primary realm of the internet. Thanks in advance!

      • A:

Unfortunately, Audio-Technica does NOT offer or publish frequency response curves for any headphones. This is also consistent with other headphone manufactures in the industry. Generally speaking, there is both an art and science to manufacturing headphones, and the frequency response curves for most headphones (not limited to A-T) do NOT always line up with human perception (and thus, the frequency response can appear to be misleading). For headphones, it is always best to judge for yourself whether they sound "good" or not.

        Thanks!

Thank you for your inquiry. Although similar, the ATH-AD900X can handle more power and in some cases has better frequency response.

      DAC + Amplifier

What DAC + Amplifier would you suggest ? The source is a computer. Is there a forum where we can discuss this?

The answer really depends, simply put something like a Fiio E17 will drive it very nice, and the E17 is a DAC and Amp, although I would recommend you get something like a Jds Labs oDac and a Garage 1217 Hybrid Tube Amp, as the AD900X would really sound magical with a hybrid tube!

We do not typically make recommendations for these. Personally, I have heard good things about the Audioengine D1 D/A Converter. needledoctor.com is a good source for a DAC + Amplifier.

Will W5000 Earpads fit on the AD900X?

I'm looking to replace the earpads on the AD900X as I am much more comfortable with the W5000 Earpad as they are leather, and I like the design ergonomics of it.
