ATH-M50x Professional Monitor Headphones
I Love Them
I made the decision a couple years ago to buy some mid/high end phones to keep at the computer station and have enjoyed every second of listening. They are super comfortable and I'm able to wear them for extended periods without any discomfort and they sound spectacular. I wasn't quite sure what to rate them concerning the durability; all I can say is they still function and look as good as the day they arrived.

Good value for money!
I'm an engineer by trade, and have built amplifiers since I was a kid, now with well over 30 years of engineering experience and a lot of knowledge richer I would class this product as a surprisingly good reproducer. The imaging of these headphones is quite amazing, making them an easy listener that doesn't fatigue very quickly. For monitoring they might be a little too forgiving, and the precision of the region below 100hz is not too great. It surprised me some critique on these headphones is that it lacks bass, all I can imagine is you probably run gear not capable of delivering sufficient current, or you've spoiled your reference point of your own ears by always listening to a far too bass pronouncing system.
These are 38 ohm impedance headphones, that naturally demand some drive and therefore will sound more different on different equipment than a HD600 for instance, which is a lot higher impedance. It's rather the popular choice of headphone manufacturers of today, to compensate for the mpobile devices lack of output power, making the best out of such poor outputs.
It is still an amazing package, they are not only comfortable and light, but the materials also feel very pro and the design is well done. The plug in cable first enters the shell with a fairly thick plastic covered shaft, before turning in to a minijack connector, smart as it won't break too quick and locks in nicely firm.
I own electrostatic headphones of Stax and these come really near in terms of the spatial performance, there is a tonne of depth in the reproduction, midrange is very clean and very precise and the high range is clear, but not too sharp.
Would definitely recommend them for just nice listening, not so much for monitoring as they are simply not linear enough and not precise enough in the bottom end.

By far my favorite headphones
I'm an average consumer. I've had the Logitech UE6000, Beats by Dre solos and studios, Astro A50s, Bose TrueSound, and V-Moda Lp2s and M100s. The ATH-M50x beats them in bang for your buck. Best sound quality, versatility (In both audio and wearing them pretty much anyway you want), and they look really nice in blue/orange. Lastly, the small things AT puts into their produce is amazing. For such a low price, they include a carrying pouch and three different cables, which other competitors never do.

These headphones sound better than any else I've ever heard
Even if you're not an audiophile, buy these. If you can't afford them, then save up. You won't regret it. Listening to music through these is a completely different experience than normal headphones.

Great set of headphones with just a few flaws
I've had the m50x for about a year now and will say I'm very happy with them. Sound quality is warm and very good. It can be a little too bassy for certain types of music and other end you get some sibilants every now and again, but it is a very versatile sound and plays well with most music.
My only gripes are comfort related. The ear pads that come standard are just too hot and uncomfortable for extended use. I bought an aftermarket set of velour pads and it is a huge improvement. At this price a set of velour pads should be included. The other gripe is that the top of the headband is flat and is not veh comfortable at the top of the skull. You need to bend these a bit to get them comfortable
