ATH-M50RD Professional Studio Monitor Headphones (with coiled cable)
Product is one of the best sets of headphones for the price
The product is the best pair of headphones I have ever bought. The only improvements that could be made are the following:
1. There is some very mild crackle and fizzle in certain mid range sounds at times, although it is minimal and hard to hear most of the time.
2. The durability of the headphone covers is a bit shorter than I would have expected.
Otherwise the product kicks butt.

Best bang for the buck studio headphones
Having a very low frequency response, these headphones provide one of the clearest quality sounds with proportionate levels within each band. I have had these headphones for over two years now and they have yet to disappoint me. The stereo imaging gives the impression that you are sitting in a room with several different spheres of sound in three dimensions. In other words, they are completely immersive. Only con is a rather flimsy AUX jack, and after two years, this "defect" hasn't bothered me a single bit. Recommended for producers and listeners alike.

Well balanced, great sound quality
My first experience with the ATH-M50 headphones was when my friend had the original black ones years ago. I tried them on and really loved them, and when AT announced they would release a limited edition Red color, I immediately ordered them.
Upon arrival, I marveled at how vivid the red color is. They really look nice, and stand out from the normal black headphone scene. Wearing these headphones is rather nice, they are very comfy and I can listen to them for long periods of time without having my ears hurt...the only downside to that is that they can get a tad hot, so I recommend taking some breaks throughout listening to them.
After breaking them in, I decided to test them out with some music. Plugging them into my iPod, I noticed that they had a very nice, balanced sound, with only a small bump in the lows and highs. This eq curve is actually preferable for listening to most music, since a perfectly flat curve can actually make music sound tinny and too bright. These produce nice lows without being overbearing, and vocals are crystal clear, and the highs are crisp, but not painful or tinny. I also purchased a portable amplifier, and although the M50s don't require an amp, it really made these headphones shine. They get more power now, and sound fuller and even crisper than before.
I really like the coiled cable that comes installed on the Red M50s. Some may find the cable to be heavy and burdensome, but AT offers straight cabled versions of the ATH-M50 headphones, just not in red. Overall, I believe that these are the best headphones you can buy in this price range, and easily outshine many more popular headphones that cost $100 more.
If you are considering getting a nice pair of headphones, I highly recommend you consider the M50s. You'll be hard-pressed to find better headphones in this price range.
