Comments about Audio-Technica ATH-R70x Professional Open-Back Reference Headphones:

I brought these home, put on one of my tracks and half way through had to check if my Adam A7x Monitors were on or off, it sounds that good. I actually thought the Adams had to be on in the background. I can see these being my new go to cans. I just shelved my AKG712's

I own the ATH - M70x. I love the ear cup fit on my ears. Are the earcups the same size and clamping power on the ATH-R70x.

I recommend trying them with your device alone first.
Otherwise, an amplifier that can supply around 100mW per channel into this impedance should get you all the volume you need and can also improve bass response and sound staging. Choose an amplifier that has low output impedance for the best damping and efficiency.

What is the frequency response graph of the R70x?

I'm curious as I'd like to be able to accurately compare this to competing headphones
              Asked on 6/16/2015 by georgey

              1 answer

              • A:

The frequency graphs are not commonly distributed with headphones because with any transducer, the environment has to be taken into consideration. For example, when the slightest change is made to a headphone, such as different material of earpads, the sound is changed. That is why most headphones have a stock earpads and any other “optional” earpad is not sold by the manufacturer. Also, frequency graphs for headphones are not visually cohesive to what they sound like. Many frequency curves while sounding flat and giving a true representation of the original source, similar to the ATH-M70x headphones, have a non-flat visual curves. For this reason, a frequency graph is not available.
