Almost exactly what I had hoped for Going into this purchase, I knew that for the money I wouldn't be getting mind-blowingly incredible headphones. And the M30x's aren't. But for the price they are really, really good. The sound is crisp—no fuzz, no distortion. Very reliable lows, mids, and highs, which for good monitor phones is par for the course. (For the record, a reliable low isn't a earth-shaking thump, but rather a smooth low tone that lets you really hear the range. These headphones deliver.) Everything I've played through these has been very satisfying. Plus, they're comfy. I can keep them on for an hour+ without a problem. My only nitpick is the cord length. Again, they are monitor headphones, so the cord length is probably to be expected. I'd pay the 2 bucks extra for a velcro cord binder for those of us who don't need quite so much cord. It would be nice to throw something like that in, but with sound quality this good, not a big deal at all. And with these sounding as good as they do, I'll be saving up my money for the 40 or 50. Then we'll talk mind-blowing. March 25, 2015
ATH-M30x Headphones=Awesome This is my first Audio-Technica product and I am extremely pleased with it. First of all, for me these are very comfortable, provided with lots of plush padding on the ear cups. Also the shape is absolutely perfect conforming to my ears very well. I can listen to music for about 2 hours straight, at that point my ears are quite sweaty and the cups are warm, but that's an ample amount of listening for me. For the price you guys charge the build quality seems fantastic. I love the fold up feature and nice bag supplied for storage and keeping my headphones dust free. Now the sound. I don't have a great range of experience when it comes to supposed expensive or exotic brand headphones, but I have tried a few, I won't mention their names. These Audio Technica headphones produce incredible sound. The precise true sound reproduction is unlike anything I have experienced. The clarity is what surprised me. What I mean by clarity is, no crackling or fuzziness in the background, just a smooth steady stream of sound. What's interesting is I can tell the differences in quality of the different recording equipment used by various Artists and Bands. How you ask? Because even though the headphones don't produce any aberrations, if the music recorded does the headphones show it. For instance, when I'm listening to Mark Knopfler and Dire Straights the clarity is unreal, when while listening to a disc by Journey there is some background fuzz, very little indeed. Just from basic logic we know its not the headphone, if it were, the fuzziness would be displayed on all the discs not just some. I found this aspect quite neat. I mentioned the true sound reproduction, which is fantastic. I've read some customers complain about these not having enough base. I guess this is subjective to a persons own preferences but I disagree with this evaluation. For instance, when I played the song Radioactive, by Imagine Dragons, which has a lot of base in the song itself the ATH-M30x headphones pumped out the base. Another nod toward the true sound reproduction, if it has lots of base these will display it, what I think these other reviewers might be referring to is the false base that is added in all the songs in other competitor headphones, which doesn't appeal to me. One of the best examples of increased depth of sound is when I listened to my favorite band, Rush. Specifically the song YYZ, which is an instrumental if your unaware. The first time I listened with these headphones, Geddy's base just popped, it was better than I had ever heard that song. I am extremely satisfied with these headphones, I've only owned them for about 3 months, I guess the only unknown for me is waiting to see how long they last, which I hope is awhile. But when they do finally go down you can rest assured that you've gained a lifelong customer. I highly recommend them. Cory W March 22, 2015
AMAZING BANG FOR YOUR BUCK! I would just like to start off by saying that I've been using these headphones for about 6 months and They have exceeded my expectations. I like to break down the reviews into 4 main parts: Sound, Style, Durability, and Comfort. The sound of these cans is not even close to the m50x, or m50 models but I have got to say they blew my mind straight from the start. The clarity is crisp, the bass is not enough to sacrifice the rest of the song (which leaves it at the perfect amount), and the mids as promised by A-T are perfect. These are very stylish, lots of my friends have asked me about these and they think that they look very classy (but not too classy, like Beats) they are just a very nice set of headphones for looks. These headphones are not the most durable set of cans out there but they are definitely made out of some pretty tough materials such as some thick plastic, and some metal for the adjustment for head sizes. Now finally, these headphones are pretty comfortable they have some very nice earpads (way better than the old ones), a nicely padded headband. At first straight out of the box brand new you will feel a slight clamping force on your head, but it`s not that bad. I hope this review helped many people searching for a nice set of cans for less than $100. December 2, 2014
Best for the Price Absolutely amazing headphones for someone who is trying to delve into the world of audiophiles. Very noticeable difference when listening to most of my music. Very Durable too. I accidentally slammed my car door on them and they were perfectly fine. Very comfortable to use even after many hours. I didn't start feeling discomfort until after about 6 hours. October 6, 2014
Very nice. I was looking into buying a new pair of headphones and I was checking out Beat's by Dre. If you know anything about Beat's by Dre you would know that they are very, very expensive. This put them far out of my budget. A friend who owned the Audio Technica ATH-M50s suggested I try out something by Audio Technica. I did some researcher and finally decided on the ATH-M30X over-ear headphones. Overall, they are amazing. The one other thing I would like to mention is the cord. It doesn't tangle, it feels durable, and it is very long. However, its length can sometimes feel like a little bit too much. I was looking at the ATH-M50s, and they had an option for a coiled cord. I wish that could have been an option for these, and if it was, I certainly would have been willing to pay a bit more for it. Finally, I was amazed by the price. For the overall quality, the price was very, very good. Here's is a very informative video that helped me make my decision: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZsxQxS0AdBY October 3, 2014
Simple, comfortable, and stylish! This is my first product I have bought from Audio-Technica and I'm absolutely loving it! These are great for casual listening at home with comfort. I just love the AT logo, it's so simple and not to "look at me!" all over it. The only con I can say is that the cord is terribly long. I have to coil it up and put a twist tie on it. I only need really a forth of it's length. July 3, 2014

    Answer:
I bought these as a combo with a Fujiyama FiiO amp, and I'm glad I did, but the amp isn't necessary to really enjoy these headphones. If I want more bass, then yeah, I'll plug in the amp, but I'm finding more and more that the bass supplied by the headphones themselves is usually plenty. And I guess that's what it comes down to—if you want a heavier low range, then sure, an amp helps. But if you prefer smooth lows that don't thump but still deliver all of the quality, then you've already got it in the M30x.

    Answer:
Thank you for your inquiry. It could. It depends on the quality of the headphone amp.

My current pair, Sony, have so many plastic parts and joints in then, that they creak like crazy when I walk with them. So much so, that it interferes with listening to my music. It's a real pain...
