Stow, OH 10-05-2017 At Rocky Mountain Audio Fest 2017, Audio-Technica will be demonstrating a variety of its high-end audio products, including the North American premiere of its new top of the line ATH-ADX5000 Air Dynamic Headphones. Product highlights include the following:

The ATH-ADX5000 Air Dynamic Headphones are the finest ever created by Audio-Technica, and are newly engineered from the ground up to deliver extraordinary audio performance. The open-air ATH-ADX5000 (SRP: US$1,999.00, available December 2017) features the company’s new, patent-pending Core Mount Technology (CMT), which positions the driver’s voice coil in the middle of its housing so that the acoustic space is balanced in both the front and the back of the driver. This configuration provides optimum low-frequency response. In addition, a damper inside the housing further tunes the bass response, and the earcups’ external honeycomb housing eliminates unwanted side ventilation that could affect the accuracy of the audio signal.

The ATH-ADX5000 employs a new Integrated Driver Unit, where the large-diameter 58 mm tungsten-coated diaphragm, Permendur magnetic circuit and housing are all integrated into the baffle. The tungsten-coated diaphragm is extremely lightweight, yet rigid and responsive, and the Permendur magnet provides high efficiency and power handling. This Integrated Driver Unit offers exceptional transient response, resolution of fine musical detail and dynamic capability along with smooth, extended Hi-Res Audio-capable frequency response from 5 Hz to 50,000 Hz. The ATH-ADX5000’s magnesium frame allows a slim, rigid lightweight construction and the earpads are made of environmentally friendly, long lasting and comfortable Alcantara microfiber material. The headphones feature a detachable connecting cable and an optional balanced cable is available. Hand-built in Japan, the ATH-ADX5000 comes with a premium protective carrying case of the type used for cameras and precision electronic equipment.

Winner of a CES 2017 Innovation Honoree award, the ATH-DSR9BT is one of Audio-Technica’s first headphones with Bluetooth® wireless technology to employ the company’s new Pure Digital Drive system, which keeps the audio signal completely digital from source to driver to offer never before-available wireless headphone sound quality.

Typically, in headphones using Bluetooth wireless technology, the digital signal goes through a series of steps that process the wireless signal – and can also degrade the sound. The Pure Digital Drive system utilizes the Trigence Semiconductor Dnote® chipset instead of a traditional D/A converter and amplifier and keeps the audio signal entirely in the digital domain from the source right through to the driver. The sonic result is remarkably clear and accurate audio reproduction. The ATH-DSR9BT (US$549.00) supports a variety of codecs at up to 24-bit/48kHz signals in Bluetooth mode, and deliver Hi-Res Audio playback at up to 24-bit/96kHz when connected to a digital source with the included USB cable.

The AT-ART1000 Direct Power Stereo Moving Coil Cartridge, which also won a CES 2017 Innovation Honoree award, features a design that places its dual moving coils directly on top of the stylus tip rather than at the base of the cantilever as in conventional designs, enabling the cartridge to deliver purer, more accurate record playback with stunning fidelity.

Each of the AT-ART1000’s two moving coils is made of 20 µm diameter PCOCC wire, wound eight turns to form two loops only 0.9 mm in diameter. The coils are placed in an extremely small (0.6 mm) gap of a powerful magnetic circuit. The AT-ART1000 (US$4,999.00) employs a high-performance line-contact stylus and solid boron cantilever for superb accuracy in tracking the record groove. The support base for the magnetic circuit, stylus and cantilever is made from lightweight, highly rigid titanium. The result is a cartridge with exceptional sonic purity, ability to resolve the most subtle musical details and remarkable transient response, combined with a smooth tonal balance with a wide 15 – 30,000 Hz frequency response. The AT-ART1000 is the ideal complement to the finest turntable setups and analog playback systems.

These and other high-performance audio products will be demonstrated at Rocky Mountain Audio Fest at the Denver Marriott Tech Center, 4900 S. Syracuse St., Denver, CO, October 6 – 8, 2017. All except the AT-ART1000 will be on exhibit in the CanJam area. The AT-ART1000 will be featured as part of a complete high-end vinyl playback system in Classic Album Sundays Room 2021.
