The recent IBC Conference in Amsterdam saw Audio-Technica provide a sophisticated wireless microphone solution for delegates in the gathering’s largest conference venue, the Auditorium Cinema.
In a system designed to allow participants both freedom of movement and unfaltering reliability during the conference, a total of four AEW-T5400 handheld wireless mics, six AT892CW headworn mics, eight AEW-T1000 beltpack systems and five AEW-R5200 dual receivers were employed. Moderators also used Audio-Technica’s new M3 in-ear monitoring system and ES915 gooseneck microphones throughout the event with great success.
IBC Conference sound engineer Terry Nelson said, “The number of channels needed for this year’s conference increased from previous years, but Audio-Technica provided the best solution we’ve ever had. The system worked perfectly, with the AT892 microphones particularly useful in allowing speakers complete freedom of head movement while still being heard – a great advantage over a lavalier system.”
Nelson was also full of praise for the level of technical support provided by Audio-Technica in overseeing the entire frequency planning of the Conference, involving the Auditorium and other wireless-equipped venues.
Alex Lepges, Audio-Technica’s European technical support manager, was charged with the task and commented that, “It is a challenge to combine different systems – including those being used by ENG crews – in close proximity at a crowded location like IBC, but we were extremely pleased with the results and the smoothness with which the event ran.”
