Audio-Technica’s New Flagship ATH-ADX5000 Headphones Wins CES 2018 Innovation Honoree Award

Stow, OH 11-14-2017 Audio-Technica today announced that its ATH-ADX5000 Open-Air Dynamic Headphones have received a CES 2018 Innovation Honoree award from the Consumer Technology Association (CTA). The new ATH-ADX5000 headphones are the finest ever created by Audio-Technica, engineered from the ground up to deliver extraordinary audio performance.

Products entered in the prestigious CES Innovation awards program are judged by a preeminent panel of independent industrial designers, independent engineers and trade media to honor outstanding design and engineering in consumer electronics products.

The open-air ATH-ADX5000 (SRP: US$1,999.00, available December 2017) features the company’s newly developed, patent-pending Core Mount Technology (CMT), which positions the driver’s voice coil in the middle of its housing so that the acoustic space is balanced in both the front and the back of the driver. This configuration provides the ideal amount of bass cancellation, which is necessary for accurate low-frequency response. In addition, a damper inside the housing further tunes the bass response, and the earcups’ honeycomb outer housing eliminates unwanted side ventilation that could affect the accuracy of the audio signal.

The ATH-ADX5000 employs a new Integrated Driver Unit, where the large-diameter 58 mm tungsten-coated diaphragm, Permendur magnetic circuit, voice coil and housing are all integrated into a single unit. The tungsten-coated diaphragm is extremely lightweight, yet rigid and responsive and the Permendur magnet provides high efficiency and power handling. This Integrated Driver Unit offers exceptional transient response, resolution of fine musical detail and dynamic capability along with smooth, extended Hi-Res Audio-capable frequency response from 5 Hz to 50,000 Hz. The ATH-ADX5000’s magnesium frame allows a slim, rigid lightweight construction and the earpads are made of environmentally friendly and comfortable Alcantara microfiber material. The headphones feature a detachable cable and an optional balanced cable is available. Hand-built in Japan, the ATH-ADX5000 comes with a premium protective carrying case of the type used for cameras and precision electronic equipment.
