GENERAL FUNCTION

The Consumer Products Assistant Market Development Manager, Home Audio provides a wide range of project coordination/implementation and administrative support to the Consumer Products Marketing function. This position requires performing the following responsibilities with minimal supervision.


RESPONSIBILITIES

Works with the Consumer Marketing Manager and others, as assigned, assisting in the development, coordination and execution of projects, including the following:
  • Creates and maintains marketing summaries.
  • Creates Graphic Service Requests (GSRs), as assigned, for POP, press releases, key dealer ad requests and other marketing needs. Includes assembling information and monitoring project progress from inception to completion.
  • Coordinates with product development department to keep marketing and product development related tasks on schedule.
  • Acts as the main communication point between the various Company departments, corporate headquarters and other vendors to ensure all aspects of product development are effectively completed.
  • Gathers information for and implements new product plans.
  • Creates reports from enterprise system and point of sale software, and analyzes data to identify sales and marketing opportunities that will increase the placement and performance of Audio-Technica products.
  • Creates detailed competitive assortment reports for online and brick and mortar retail stores.
  • Monitors and reports on marketing budgets.
  • Assembles and submits completed ideation documentation, appropriate for project complexity, to corporate consumer products planning committee for discussion and approval.
  • Coordinates product evaluation of samples from corporate headquarters and other vendors for technical fit and feasibility.
  • Develops and refines a pool of promising product ideas to gain basic assurance of the concept’s viability and fit to the Company’s goals by:
    • Working with sales and marketing to roughly define product features and marketability
    • Working with US and Japanese engineering to evaluate technical aspects and merits
    • Working with other departments/personnel as applicable to ensure quality and timely delivery of products
  • Communicates major issues during any part of the process to manager for assistance and resolution.
  • Assists in the organization and implementation of trade show activities as needed.
  • Handles miscellaneous clerical responsibilities as needed in the Consumer Marketing Department. Duties include packaging and documenting domestic & overseas shipments; summarizing and analyzing competitive quotes for market research, advertising and/or other special projects; and other duties as assigned.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  • Actively develops an extensive knowledge of Audio-Technica and competitive products, applications, features, customer satisfaction, technical aspects, and category trends.
  • Cultivates a working competency of technical issues regarding product development, applications and trends of the industry in general.
  • Experience in consumer electronics field preferred.
  • Understands all the detail steps and interactions necessary to complete a new product. Uses knowledge as a basis to monitor and take action, as appropriate, to meet outstanding requirements.
  • Develop and maintain a current knowledge of typical or best business practices and methods for product planning.
  • Excellent computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Word and Excel, and familiarity with e-mail and business systems.
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational and proof-reading skills, and attention to detail necessary.
  • Strong interpersonal skills are required for working in a team environment.
  • College degree in Marketing, Communications, Business and/or related field is required.
  • Over three years experience in product and/or marketing management.
  • Occasional travel required.

JOB TITLE: Director of Sales, Professional Markets
LOCATION: Stow, Ohio U.S.A.


GENERAL FUNCTION

Responsible for the achievement of Professional Markets top line sales, profit, and budgetary objectives in the United States and Canada. Manage sales personnel to ensure that all sales and profit objectives are met. Implement written annual strategic plans to optimize results in each of the assigned channels of Musical Instruments, Pro Audio, Installed Sound and Broadcast. Manage and participate in the development of training and education for Sales Management Team and Channel Partners. Participate in national and regional trade shows.


RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Achievement of monthly, quarterly and annual top line sales objectives across the US and Canadian Professional Market channels.
  • Achievement of the annual profit contribution for the Professional Markets in the US and Canada.
  • Direct responsibility of US and Canadian distributors, selection, objective and accountability.
  • Business travel of at least 5 days per month throughout the US and Canada based on needs and opportunities.
  • Lead, coach, mentor and manage the internal sales team as well as plan and execute their talent development and continuing education. Leadership engagement and participation in Sandler Selling System.
  • Delegate to direct reports with accountability and follow-up. Create job descriptions and update annually for each Direct Report. Perform annual reviews.
  • Work in collaboration with the Marketing Director to define monthly, quarterly and annual campaigns and promotions across all professional market segments, update and contribute to all product pricing. Execute associated planned sales strategies.
  • Monitor defined sales related budgets monthly.
  • Execute final approval for all new and reactivated accounts in accordance with the defined criteria.
  • Lead and manage the implementation of account “programs” and discount structures to maintain consistent and appropriate pricing, rebates, co-op, freight, drop ship fees and other benefits to assist in growing business and in accordance with US fair trade practices.
  • Manage and execute product allocations as needed.
  • In collaboration with the sales management team, conduct annual reviews of all Sales Representatives to build more effective communications, to understand training and development needs, and to provide insight for the improvement of Rep Firm’s sales and activity performance. Consider all options in developing the most effective sales force. Initiate probationary or termination action recommendations collaboratively with the Executive Director.
  • Work with the sales management team to collect core product forecasts from key account and forward to the Pro Market Analyst.
  • Manage sales personnel travel plans to account for planned visits as well as short term opportunities.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks and participating in professional societies.
  • Establish and maintain productive, professional relationships with key people and organizations within the industry.
  • Utilize the company CRM system to the fullest to manage business relationships, team cookbooks and activities, calendar activities and pipeline information.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  • 5+ years of experience in Sales Management working with a national team of outside sales people.
  • College degree in a related field or equivalent industry experience.
  • Experience with enterprise software solutions and organizations.
  • Excellent organizational and written communication skills.
  • SAP, CRM experience a plus.
  • Strong understanding of market dynamics and requirements.
  • Strong product knowledge in the MI, Pro Audio, Broadcast and integration markets.
  • Able to travel as needed at least 5 days per month.
  • Proven management and leadership ability.

SUPERVISION

The position will have direct reports including territory managers and inside sales personnel. Depending on experience there may also be management of customer support team, sales engineering team and sales policy coordinator.
