Comments about Audio-Technica AT8430 Studio Microphone Isolation Mount:

I love this mount, very well made and fits other mics as well, the AKG 414 for example..Plus provides better and easier placement than other mounts.
This is problably NOT considered a Shock mount, but having the rubber insert provides a nice level of decoupling.
Its also the only mount I know of that is built like this one, and works like this one..
          I like it...

How exactly does this thing work?

I do audiobook recording, and I prefer to mount my 4047 upside down. How exactly does this one work? How does it hold a microphone, and how does it isolate it?

Thank you for your inquiry. The ring on the mount has a screw that causes to ring to grip the housing of the XLR connector. I've never tried this on the AT4047. It should work, but please note it may partly cover the XLR connector on the mic cable as well as the mic.
