    • Q:

Is the Low Frequency Roll-Off always activated, or can it be turned on and off?

I need a microphone to record speech samples for acoustic analysis. This microphone is attractive because the frequency response extends down to 40 Hz. However, I see that this product has Low Frequency Roll-Off, which might affect the ability to pick up some speech sounds in the lower frequency range. So I was wondering if the Low Frequency Roll-Off is always activated, or if it can be turned on and off?

        Please read the below information:

The ATM73a comes with the AT8531 power module. The power module that comes with some condenser microphones provides several important functions. First, it converts the 11 – 52 VDC phantom power into a smaller DC bias voltage used to power the FET impedance matching circuit inside the microphone. Also, it provides a SELECTABLE low frequency roll off, supplies battery power if phantom power is not available, converts the signal to the proper impedance and balances the output. The power module is a necessary component.

        Thanks!

    • Q:

Is this mic any better than the atm75 for vocal singing performance
Asked on 12/5/2012 by Montey from Canada

      1 answer

      • A:

The ATM73 is not necessarily a "better" microphone; it just sounds different. However, the ATM73 does have better specifications. Every microphone sounds different and is dependent upon what sound you're going for. Personally, I prefer the ATM73 because it has a little more low-end (bass) response and can handle more Sound-Pressure-Level (SPL), as compared to the ATM75.

        Thanks!

    • Q:

What do the terms "Terminated" and "Unterminated" mean?
      Asked on 7/22/2012 by Yankee

      1 answer

      • A:

Thank you for your inquiry. Terminated means that it has a connector at the end of the cable wired for a specific system. Unterminated means there is no connector and the end of the cable is just bare wire. This is for those who want to wire it themselves for a specific system.

is this mic suitable for Group Fitness?

I notice this mic is suggested for drummers who I assume get sweaty. So, is this mic suitable for group fitness where we get very sweaty, is it sealed to be sweat resistant?
      Asked on 4/13/2012 by Julieanne

      • A:

Thank you for you inquiry. Yes, it can be used for a fitness group, although i recommend the Pro 8he instead. It is a very similar mic and costs much less.
