Comments about Audio-Technica AE5400 Cardioid Condenser Handheld Microphone:
I've been using this microphone for about six months now, playing in a Country/Western band, as well as in a Blues/Rock band. I'm a baritone (chest voice) typically, but have a very high tenor head voice as well. This is an amazingly neutral microphone, except for a very slight bump in the upper mids, and a decent cut at about 5K.
The bad: this mic is not forgiving. Whatever your vocal issues are, it will find them. It is also very sensitive to stage volume and feedback.
The good: if you have a good voice (and control), you will sound better than you ever have! If you use IEMs, feedback is not an issue, and you can turn up the gain and catch every nuance of your performance. I have a small recording studio as well, and use this mic rather than any ribbon mic - it's that good!
