Q:I have a mixing board with 48 VDC phantom power supply (switch and indicator light are on; connected through standard, functioning XLR mic cable), but my new PRO 49QL is not working out of the box. Do I need an additional power module to get the mic to work? Or is there reason to believe it was broken in shipping?
A:Thank you for your inquiry. Can you verify that phantom power is present? You can do this by either connecting another condenser microphone to see if it works, or by using a volt meter to check the power. You could also try the microphone on another mixing console, possibly at a music store if you do not have access to one. Also, make sure that you are using an XLR male to XLR female cable. If none of this resolves the issue you may have a faulty microphone. Please contact the Service Department at 330-686-2600 option 4. They will be happy to help with this.
Q:Can you buy the microphone sponge cover for the Pro49QL?
A:Yes, it is the AT8146 Windscreen.
Q:Does this need phantom power ?
A:Yes it does. All condenser element type microphones require some amount of power to operate. For the PRO 49QL, this would be supplied in the form of phantom power. Phantom power must be supplied to the 3-pin male XLR output connector on the microphone. Phantom Power may be provided by a Mixer, Amplifier or Recorder that has a balanced 3-pin female XLR type Microphone input AND features phantom power of at least 9 volts (anywhere from 9 to 48 volts is acceptable). If the Mixer, Amplifier or Recorder you are connecting the microphone to does not feature phantom power, an inline phantom power supply, such as our AT8801 Single-channel 48 volt Phantom Power Supply, should be installed between the microphone and the Mixer, Amplifier or Recorder.
Q:Can the AT8662 podium mount be used with the Pro 49ql gooseneck mic?
A:For those who might be interested, I'm answering my own question. I called AT customer service and they actually tried it out. They report that the Pro 49ql works perfectly with the AT8662 podium mount.
Q:How long is the XLRF-type cable that is attached to the PRO49QL microphone?
