  • Overview

The white-finished version of U853A, the U853AW cardioid condenser hanging microphone is ideal for speech, theater, orchestra and choir sound reinforcement and recording. The microphone’s fast transient response and low distortion characteristics allow every complex detail to be heard with all its impact—rich, vibrant qualities faithfully reproduced. Equipped with UniGuard® innovations that offer unsurpassed immunity from radio frequency interference, the U853AW accepts interchangeable elements, available in cardioid, hypercardioid, omnidirectional and UniLine™ line cardioid polar patterns. The battery- or phantom-powered microphone also offers an 80 Hz low-cut UniSteep® filter that reduces pickup of low-frequency ambient noise.

We like this mic, and want to test prior to purchasing more. The permanently attached wire in excess of 25 feet in length is a bit long. We will be plugging it into a camera mic input with phantom power, and would like to keep the wire length short.

    Answer:
Thank you for your inquiry. The cable can be shortened by the user, but to maintain RF immunity you will have to purchase replacement RF TA3F connectors from our parts department. You will also need to purchase a special crimping tool, ATCT to attach the connector.
