          1 answer

          • A:

Thank you for your inquiry. The Pin-Out for the AT4060 is as follows:

            • Case = Ground (Copper Braid) with Jumper to Pin 1
            • Pin 1 = Ground (Black)
            • Pin 2 = Audio [+] (Red)
            • Pin 3 = Audio [–] (White)
            • Pin 4 = Bias (Green)
            • Pin 5 = Heater (Brown)
            • Pin 6 = Open (Gray)

This cable is indeed proprietary, and comes pre-packaged. Because of this, we are not certain which model connector is being used. The sure-fire way to make certain the microphone will work is to purchase the cable for the AT4060. It goes for $108 from our Parts Department (330) 686-2600 option 4.

          • A:

Beyond the typical "thunk" or "plink" a finger or fingernail might make tapping on the head grille or body, you may be hearing the elements resonating inside a tube that has gone microphonic.

I know this is an old question, but these mysteries can cause some people to worry.

A microphonic tube will not hurt your mic, but it can induce unwanted harmonics in your recordings, so it would be time to call or mail AT for service.
