    Mice mic once it's tweaked

    4

I bought this mic on a whim. I already have some Audio-Technica mics so I knew the quality was good. I received it and used it that night. I use it in my Yamaha Tyros keyboard as I sing backups in one band using the keyboards vocoder. The thing squealed and feedback like crazy so I went back to my stand mic. Once I got home I tried again. This time I spent a good deal of time EQing (a lot!) and got it dialed in just right...and it works very nicely. Goodbye to the mic stand and mic in my face...which was my original goal. Don't really care for it in my head but I wear it around my neck which works fine. Overall a nice mic and I would buy it again...BUT...one must spend some time getting it tweaked and EQed as it responds way different from a stand mic (SM58 style) and the small diaphragm must be right on axis with your mouth to get a decent sound without feedback.

I've used the PRO 8HEx fro about 8 years. It is very versitile. I went from gig to gig with 3 bands full time. Gigs every weekend. It was always the best sounding mic on stage.

    Great sound at reasonable price

I've owned two of these- the original still works, but looked worn, so I replaced it. I've tried headphone mics (and bought) more expensive, but keep coming back to the PRO 8HEx. I get compliments on clarity of vocals every gig. Very easy to keep in position, no feedback problems, even working within 5' of speakers. Before spending more money, try this great headset mic.

I am a speech language pathologist who has a client who can only whisper. We wanted a head set so that she could talk at her desk to her clients and they would be able to hear her. My aerobics instructor recommended this head set. Would it work and if so, what other products do we need to buy such as Bluetooth speakers, etc? Thanking you in advance, Claudette

    Claudette

Thank you for your inquiry. I don't think this is the right product for this application. Please contact our Audio Solutions Team at 330-686-2600 ext. 5000. They would be happy to help you.

Will the PRO 8HEX Headset Mic work with the AT8531 transmitter back?

    Ron

No it will not. Also, the AT8531 is an inline power module (for a condenser type microphone). It is not a wireless transmitter. The PRO 8HEX is a dynamic type microphone and does not require any power to operate. The PRO 8HEX would plug directly into the 3-pin female XLR Microphone jack on a mixer, amplifier or audio recorder. Nothing else is required. If you want a wireless version of the mic, this would be the PRO 8HEcW and it can be used with any audio-technica wireless systems that uses a UniPak model bodypack transmitter. The letters "cW" in the model number indicate that the mic will be fitted with a 4-pin female Hirose (HRS) type connector on the output end of its permanently attached cable.

I have had the ATW-1127 stored at home for quite a while. I brought it to Florida and the headset does not work. It appears to be the cable near the plug end. It will work if you jiggle the cable. Do you have a replacement cable for the PRO8HE?

    Brian

The PRO8HEcW is still an active product and may be used with your system. You may also use any wireless microphone that ends in the code "cW" which indicates the cable properly terminates with the 4 pin HRS connection used on your Audio-Technica UniPak transmitter. http://www.audio-technica.com/cgi-bin/product_search/accessories/accessories.pl?product_line=Wireless%20Essentials

Temple & mic wind covers. How much for set for a Pro 8HEcW headset

    Steve - Bones

Please contact our Audio Solutions Department at (330) 686-2600 ext 5000 or at audio-solutions@atus.com for assistance with this.

Is this the correct mic for an NC3MX connector? Or would I need the 8HEX?

    Tracy

Thank you for your inquiry. The Pro 8HWcW is for a wireless system. If you are connecting to an XLR input you need the Pro 8HEX.

What replacement windscreen can I order and what is the replacement part for the "temple" pads?

    Ed Whitney

Thank you for your inquiry. The large windscreen replacement is the AT8139L. The small one is the AT8139S. The temple pads are AT8142. You may contact our Parts Department at Parts@atus.com or call (330) 686-2600 ext 5002. to inquire about a replacement if you are located in the US.

Is the size of the headset adjustable? It is too small to wear on top of my head. I have to put the metal band in back of my head.

    dan711

No it is not adjustable. It is not supposed to be worn on top of your head. The metal band goes around the back of your head. The soft foam pads at each end of the band are called "temple pads." these are supposed to be positioned on your temples.

I thought I bought Pro 8HEMW. I received Pro 8HE in the mail. (No MW) It does not work great with my Dragon Medical speech recognition (reviews say it should). What are the difference in specs between Pro 8he and pro 8hemw? Thanks

    Michael

The headset would be identical regarding to the specs. The only difference between the two would be the way they terminate. The PRO 8HEmW terminates in a 3.5mm connection.

    ATUS_Specialist4

Does the headset work as headphones, or are is it simply made to be worn over the ears. asking another way, is there a monitoring system built into this, to where the headset are also earphone speakers, or is it only a microphone with a headset.

    beaudoesntknow

No, the PRO8HEcW is just a headworn microphone (no headphones.)

    ATUS_Specialist3

This microphone only works when it is placed as close to your mouth as possible. Is there a specific setting it needs to be on?

    Rhino

Thank you for your inquiry. This microphone is made to be used close to the mouth. You may be able to boost the gain at your belt pack transmitter to increase the input level.
