Is there a specific product/solvent to use to clean the wire? I don't want to use rubbing alcohol if it will degrade the rubberized wire. Thanks

What are the purpose and effects of the caps on the end of the microphone?

    Dvdntwrk

Those would either be Windscreens or Element-Covers. The windscreens help to protect against wind-noise, the element-covers provide general protection. In application, the covers can keep debris from making direct contact with the element. An example would be in to keep makeup away from the microphone element in theatre applications. If you have any further questions, please contact the Audio-Technica United States (ATUS) Audio Solutions Team at: audio-solutions@atus.com Thanks!

xlr cables and wireless base I bought this unit thinking it included an xlr cable and wireless base. i didn't realize those were not included. what other accessories go with this model so i can use it with the tascam 70d recorder?

For a wireless application, you may use your microphone with an Audio-Technica UniPak wireless transmitter. For a wired application, you may use the AT8539 power module to properly adapt the 4 pin HRS connector to a standard XLR. (NOTE: the mic will require phantom power.)
