    I love this cart

    5

I 've used this cart with SME IV arm for over 2 years now. In some musics (e.g. solo/small ensemble jazz) it sounds at par with much pricier outfits. In most classical and rock grooves it is also great, the only situation where the AT33EV may find difficulties is big orchestras (e.g. Mahler synphonies). I use a Shelter 901 on another table, also with an SME arm (the 312), and I find a much cheaper AT richer, more coherent and overall giving a better listening experience. (The Shelter, though, is more detailed and possibly less coloring).

    Love the AT33EV!

    4

This is a wonderful all around cartridge. Works well with all music, I listen to mostly rock, jazz and classical and it excels at all three genres. If care is taken with setup (proper SRA, tracking force and azimuth and importantly geometric alignment) the AT33EV sings. Use with a quality SUT and be rewarded with sweet liquid natural sounds. It has great bass slam and rythmic drive which propels the music along with finesse, a lush mid and delicate highs.. I wonder how this cart would sound with an ML stylus!

How do I replace the needle in the AT33EV MC Cartridge. ?

Will the AT33V work with Reloop turntable 5 S arm ?

    Adams the old newbie

Yes, the AT33EV will work with the standard half inch mount of that tone arm but you will want to confirm with the turntable/tone arm manufacture if they recommend using a Moving Coil cartridge with their product. Additionally, you will need to use the proper MC Preamp to maintain the proper gain levels.

Is there a recommended headshell for the AT-33EV cartridge?

    Thomas

You may use a headshell that is designed for your tone arm style. For example, if you have a "J" or "S" shaped tone are such as in the AT-LP120-USB or AT-LP5, you may use the AT-HS10 whereas if you are using with a straight tone arm as in the AT-LP3 turntable, you may use the AT-HS3

I see you recommend a load of 100 ohms "with a head amp" ... I have a Kenwood C2 and it allows me to load an MC cartridge with 100 ohms ... is this suffice to drive the cart or I still need a separate head amp in between the C2 and the turntable? Here you have a link to a pic of the preamp where you can see how you can set it. http://tubehacker.com/images/Kenwood_C2_Preamp/PC020010.JPG

Thank you for your inquiry. Set the C2 to MC 100 and you should be fine,

The literature with my AT33EV tells me how to exchange a cartridge with worn stylus for a new cartridge. Unfortunately my cartridge was damaged in a move (bent cantilever) so my stylus didn't have a chance to wear out. Can I take advantage of that same policy, i.e. exchange old for new cartridge for the cost of a stylus replacement?

I have a Pioneer PL-55X turntable. The last two cartridges were AT's. Of course I don't have boxes indicating the serial numbers, so do you have something compatible for me? Appears to have two mounting screws and four wires which plug into the tone arm. Thanks!

How many hours can I expect my cartridge to last? I clean the stylus after 5 record plays, use a anti static brush and zero stat gun before each play. Records are always cleaned after purchase. All turntable specs are matched to cartridge. After playing hours are met..can I get a re-tip since the stylus can't be changed? Thank you!

    Paul

500 to 1000 hours. We do not re-tip our MC type cartridges. We offer a cartridge exchange program instead. Send in your worn cartridge, and for a modest fee we will replace the entire cartridge with the same (if available) or equivalent model.

I have an AT33EV and an EAR MC-4 SUT. Any recommendation on which of the four SUT inputs /settings to use? (e.g., 3, 6, 12, or 40 OHM)? Thanks!

    William

    40 ohms

Will this product work on a P Mount Tone Arm?

    Franco

Thank you for your inquiry. This will not work. This is a half inch mount. You can adapt a P mount cartridge to a half inch, but not the other way around.
