  • Overview

With a specialized body and internal wiring dedicated to monaural sound reproduction, the VM610MONO conical stylus cartridge is designed for playing mono records. Part of the 600 Series in Audio-Technica’s new VM cartridge line – a line that harks back to A-T’s early days as a manufacturer primarily of high-end phono cartridges – the VM610MONO is equipped with dual magnets that are internally connected to reduce record noise and obtain a highly focused “center” sound image that stereo cartridges can’t provide. Includes mounting hardware.

  • Q & A

I currently use a AT-VM670SP mono cartridge to play my 78 rpm records. Will the VM610 Mono replacement stylus work on the VM670Sp cartridge? I would like to eliminate swapping out cartridges to play micro-Groove mono LP's.

    Old Vinyl

    Yes it will.

Is the provided stylus useable on shellac, vinyl, or both?

The VM610MONO cartridge includes a 0.6 mil conical stylus

The VM610MONO mount is "half-inch" & I'd like to install on a AT-LP3BK deck; can I work use a universal mount? If so, what's AT's universal mount part number?

The AT-LP3 model turntables allow for a half inch mount cartridge already. You may just mount the VM610MONO to an AT-HS3 headshell and properly align with the turntable.

Is this cartridge a true mono cartridge, in that it has one coil and responds to lateral movement only? Or is this cartridge internally wired for mono? Thanks!

Thank you for your inquiry. Excellent question! This is internally wired for mono.

What styli are considered an upgrade for the VM610Mono cartridge? For example, is the line contact nude mount stylus found on The VM540ML a good upgrade for this cartridge?

Thank you for your inquiry. Yes, it is.

Hello will the Audio Technica VM610MONO be ok with 1980s Mono re-issue vinyl, ie the Franklin Mint Big Band recordings, or are they not true Mono? Thanks

Thank you for your inquiry. This site is designed to answer questions for the Americas. Please see the below link to find the Audio-Technica office responsible for your part of the globe. They will be happy to help.

Is this stylus compatible with the AT-LP5?

Thank you for your inquiry. Yes it is.

vm610mono cartridge can be used in 33 or 45 rpm?

Thank you for your inquiry. Yes, as long as they are mono recordings.

I have an Audio-Technica AT-LP120-USB Direct-Drive Turntable with accompanying stereo stylus and have recently become aware of the benefits of also having a mono stylus. Is your VM610MONO Stereo Turntable Cartridge for Mono LP compatible with this Turntable? How would I switch out the cartridges and would it be difficult or potentially hazardous to the cartridges?

Yes, you may use the VM610MONO with the AT-LP120-USB Turntable.
