    Great sound but lacks quality

I bought a pair just before the x was released. They sounded great and look is decent. But the build quality is pretty poor. They started rattling 6 months in. They never left my house. Strictly home studio use. They gave me a new pair and I do have to say the customer service Is good. Not long after a year went by with the new ones they started rattling again. That's it for me and these ath m50s. I bought some sennheisers and 2 years later they're still working great. I wouldn't recommend these.

    Excellent, even 7 years after

This headset I have bought in 2010 is one of the few audio equipments I never thought about changing, or for the same one. Because the only problem I have found is that the upper band and the earphones are completely worn out and crackled. Keep it to this level, your products are excelllent. ;)

High Class Sound at an Affordable Price Point

The ATH M50's are some of the most relied upon headphones in any industry - and rightfully so. The sound quality on these is incredible - and far superior to many higher priced headphones (beats, bose). I was pleasantly surprised to find that when listening to high quality audio files, the louder that I went, the more subtle nuances I picked up that I didn't hear before. This isn't to say you have to crank it to 11 every time you listen to benefit from these headphones - rather it was a discovery when I was testing out whether or not there was distortion that occurs with a lot of headphones when you blast the volume. The one down side is I do wish that Audio Technica used a more durable material for wrapping the headband portion. Through minimal use, mine is already cracking/peeling and it just makes an otherwise premier SOUND quality headphone appear, well less than high end.

    Best purchase ever made

This is by far the best purchase I have ever done. I've now had them for over three years and they still give same crisp and true sound. I use the word true because that's what it is. They are not particularly bass heavy nor treble heavy, so I'd recommend you purchasing Boom 2 to get the exact sound that you prefer.

    Im gonna buy them again.

Im on my third or fourth year useing these, and i use them everyday, and when i go for a bikeing trip i always wear them. i have even taken a few crashes with them on, and they still sounds as nice as the day i bought em. the only thing thats a little off after all this time, is the ear muffs, those have a few cracks here and there. but thats all. The sound is amazing and when they someday fails me, im gonna buy them again, great produkt!

Great for studio use and monitoring and some music use etc

These are great headphones for HiFi and studio, monitoring, mixing, etc music work. Studio use. But these aren't so great for just entertainment and casual normal use, usually. It really depends what you like. These show even the faults in some songs/video audio, because they are accurate, balanced, great for finishing audio and playing it/noticing issues if there are any. But these dont have much bass, I've noticed, not a lot of punchy boomy bass, that's why they are NOT my fave for music use and my electronic music entertainment listening. SO, Keep that in mind. If you just want great HiFi premium audio quality headphones for music, then maybe these are not for you. These are more for DJ's and Studio work :) but also work decent for some casual use.

Great Value, but bit poor durability

I love this headphones, one of my best purchases of my life. before I found this brand I tried so many different brands, but they were too pricy, but never met my satisfaction. all too exaggerated. this pair has excellently balanced sound, great quality design, although I think it is less durable, for everyday careful people unlike me, would find this very solid durable product. price is just unbelievably inexpensive, such a well made product. best headphone brand out there. though i had trouble receiving feedbacks and technical support,(could not get mine fixed) mine are still usable and great. Really nice for a long run. really makes you appreciate the sound that has been computerised and unnatural like everyday pop songs and composing, pretty much everything, these brings out all the details even from low quality music that's been put on your devices.

These headphones are second to none.

I love these headphones. The sound coming through these headphones are amazing. They are comfortable, so much so that one can listen to music for long periods. I like the way the ear pieces swivel and easily adjust to ones head. I have the long straight cord version, so I can listen from any location in the living room. These are some serious headphones, very pleased.

Does what it is supposed to do.

I use the ATH M50 in my home studio for tracking & some mixing when I need to check things closer than my studio monitors allow. The response of these headphones is pretty neutral which translates well for my mixes. Solid build & comfortable for long periods of use. Great product.

    Love These!!!

I have had these for over a year now and they sound Amazing! I use them for everyday listening and monitors while playing bass on stage. They work great for both. I also did the removable cable mod and I use these all the time. They are so comfortable and I forget they are even on my head. I would recommend these to anyone. Definitely the best in their price range.

How to clean Audio‑Technica ATH‑M50 Professional Studio Headphones? I bought one 2 years ago. After regular usage, the headphone is dirty, especially left and right ear speakers. Is there anyway I can use to disassemble it and clean it?

Thank you for your inquiry. We suggest a slightly damp cloth and let the headphones dry before using.

I bought this for my son a couple of years ago. These headphones have great sound; however, the coiled cable seems to be damaged as the sound only comes out of the left (cable) side unless the it is jiggled at the connection to the audio source. Do the headphones need to be returned for service to repair the cable?

Hi! Our company has 4 of these headphones and one is currently missing it's 1/4" adaptor. We have had not had very good luck with the commercial adaptors we have tried (not making contact correctly) and was wondering if it would be possible to purchase a replacement screw on adaptor for these, or (I realize these are discontinued) if you could suggest an adequate replacement adaptor? Thank you so much, Sara Griffith plus24
