ATH-ANC33iS QuietPoint® Active Noise-Cancelling In-Ear Headphones reduce distracting background noise by up to 90% while offering the superior sound that makes Audio-Technica a world-leading pro audio company.

Engineered to create a comfortable listening environment in areas with high ambient noise, these in-ear headphones feature a miniature microphone in each earpiece that picks up ambient noise (such as traffic, air-handling systems, etc.). Electronics in the QuietPoint control module create a noise-cancelling wave that is 180° out of phase with the ambient noise. This wave acts like a noise eraser: it cancels out the annoying sounds that surround you without diminishing the audio you want to hear. The result…a peaceful enclave to enjoy the music or movies of your choice.

The ATH-ANC33iS in-ear headphones also feature an inline microphone and controller for answering calls and controlling music. The mic and controller support smartphones, iPhones, iPads, many iPods & other compatible devices. The microphone has an omnidirectional pickup pattern and it is designed for crisp intelligibility, so your voice will be clearly transmitted without having to speak directly into the mic.

    Solid performance, good value

I have been using these earbuds three years. They have been sturdy and durable. I use the rubber seals and find them more comfortable than expected. Battery life has been stellar. Noise cancellation works very well on NYC subway. On airplanes they help a lot though not as effectively as other higher-priced models. Definitely the right mix of value per dollar for me. Highly recommended.

Best ANC wired headphones under $100

Very surprised at how well they compare to more expensive ANC headphones. Has similar sound quality and noise reduction to Pioneer's Rays but for half the price. Has more treble response/brighter sound than Bose QC20's. Worked best with foam COMPLY as that sealed out noise well allowing a noticeable reduction in ambient noise. The rubber ear pieces didn't seal well at all for me. A single battery has lasted nearly 40 hours so far. Lasts much longer than a rechargeable and swapping in a fresh battery takes a mere 10 seconds to get back to 100% plus the ANC works even when not plugged into your phone, unlike the Pioneer's that gets its power from your phone. A simple on off switch with a red LED indicator on the battery pack is all it takes to enable ANC. Pack is half the size of the Bose QC20's ($250) and weighs less. It also has an integrated clip to remove its weight from the cord and earphones. Noise cancellation is on par with the $150 Pioneer Rays but not as strong as the Bose QC 20's, but for 1/3 the price, the QuietPoint 33's are a great value. The cord, plastics, fit, and finish are better than expected, a little under Pioneer's but not as premium as Bose's but that's to be expected at this price point. Earbuds are compact and fit flush with my ears, sticking out less a little less than the Pioneer or Bose, though the hard plastic part of the earphone may cause some discomfort if your ears are small and worn for very long periods of time, depending on your ears (your ears may vary of course). Battery case and battery door are well made and sturdy. I've folded up the headphones and stored in my jean pocket on numerous occasions with no worry of fraying the cord or damaging the battery housing or earbuds. It comes with a small carrying bag that I've used to store and transport on a few occasions. Headphone connector is also sturdy and appears it will hold up to flexing and the occasional accidental pull. In all, a great value!

I would never buy this product again.

Poor noise cancelling. Failed to isolate most of the noise in the environment made it no difference with normal non-noise cancelling earphones plus audio quality is worse than most of the earphones available out there. Regret purchasing this product.

a step back from the ANC3 times

ATH-ANC33iS model under performs. The older ATH-ANC3 (although without a microphone) had much better sound. The difference is so drastic, I have decided to write reviews where people will read them with hope that Audio Technica will correct this mistake. It is more difficult now to change the rubber ear pieces - which some may see as a plus (it is more difficult to lose them). The rubber of the ear pieces is harder, so it makes poor contact with your ear compared to the ANC3 model, leading to poor noise isolation. The comply earpiece is not much better. The jack is gold plated, but the airplane adapter is nickel plated. The ANC33iS magnet is not neodymium anymore, so the low end is very weak. Low end is specified at 20 Hz, but it feels like it starts from 80-100 Hz. The microphone is very noisy. This has been a very disappointing purchase for me. ANC3 had 90 Ohms impedance, and ANC33iS has 32 Ohms impedance - perhaps again related to the weaker magnet. Therefore ANC33iS may drain the phone battery faster over a longer listening session, as it requires higher current.

Good sound but only last 18 months.

Sound is good, but the battery holder is very bulky, the cable is a little on the short side and the hinge to affix it to your clothes broke.

Good but less durable than expected

    3

I bought these to use at work while working and on breaks. Though they are almost perfect, I noticed two problems, one: the noise-canceling went out on the left side after three months of use, and two: when the noise cancelling is off they do not isolate sound well. I often had only one ear in, which may have unbalanced the cord and created the problem, but I expected great durability since I had abused a different type of in-ear headphones from AT which have lasted forever and are still lasting for only 20 bucks. But these wore supper fast. Idk about the battery compartment, it is in a terrible place, too high to be clipped next to your phone or where it's plugged in, but too low to be clipped into something like a collar, and the cord length, is 6" too long and I'm tall so for some maybe even 12" too long(20cm) Waist of money, I am trying to have them fixed but it won't matter because they aren't tough enough for me to use so --

    Great value, great product

The reviews I read about the ANC33 before I bought it made me quite confused. From "not working at all" to "nearly as good as 4 times more expensive products". The truth might be in between but closer to very good. The ANC works very well from the point to reduce the lower frequency noise in airplanes or trains. Low to lower midrange frequencies are reduced very well. E.g. currently I am sitting in the living room with open door to the garden and stormy weather (wind gusts up to 70km/h). With ANC switched on the wind disappears completely. From TV sound with ANC on the higher frequencies remain which means you still can understand the talking. With some low noise music the TV is nonexistent. The sound quality is much better than everything I know delivered with mobile phones or other mobile players. The used material is plastic but from the good kind. The cable is long enough to clip the control box to your trousers pocket (I am 1.83 m/6 ft tall).

I replaced the supplied ear tips with a set of Comply T-400s, large. I didn't knock off any stars for this because I have hard-to-fit ears. They are great for air travel, train travel, noisy coffee shops, arenas with painfully loud sound systems and anywhere else I want to block out sound. They do feel delicate, and all the problems mentioned in other reviews are possibly traceable to damage at the mic switch, so I bought a case and have had no problems in a year of use.

Good price but Mic/Button not working with iPhone

    3

I purchased the first pair at Heathrow T3 airport and was defective, left ear was not working; ok it may happen; I got a replace, I was happy about sound quality and noise suppression immediately tested on a long flight 10+Hr. when off the airplane I used them for first call and discovered that Mic and the Button doesn't work with iphone 6. are they still another defective or just not compatible with iphone? who knows but when I'll be back from trip I'll get it back and buy a different brand.

    Problem interfacing with iPhone 6

    2

For the price, sound cancellation is very good. I wear these on the train and it cancels a lot of the ambient noise while voices remain largely audible. That said, there's something wrong with the way the headphones interact with my iPhone 6. When they are plugged in, they randomly activate Siri. Annoying. Not happening without the headphones plugged in, and not happening with other headphones are plugged in, so I've isolated the problem to these audio-technicas. Additionally the in-line button does not work--at least not consistently--with the phone. I've seen others with the same problem on this review page, so wondering if this is an acknowledged defect and whether it's correctable?

Hi Does the ATH-ANC33iS work with the iPhone 7 which has a separate apple connector for headphones? Cheers

Hi I can basically only use the headphones when the battery part is lying dead still. If it moves just a little bit, whatever is on (podcast/spotify/itunes/audio book/whatever) stops, starts or changes track. Doesn't matter if I have it plugged into my phone or computer. What is wrong? Philip

Every day I make around 100 telephonic sales calls from my office in the basement. My basement is noisy when the furnace and water heater are on (which is quite often in the cold climate in Calgary, AB) Will the mike pick up these noises? Or does it cancel out the back ground noise and transmit my voice only?

    Salesman

Thanks for you inquiry. Unfortunately our ATH-ANC33iS only cancels the background noise in your earphones, it does not cancel the back ground noise of what the microphone is picking up.

May I buy replacement foam tips for my ATH-ANC23 headphone?

    Max

Thank you for your inquiry. Some are available via our parts department. Foam tips are available form Comply. Please contact our Parts Department at 330-686-2600 ext. 5002. They would be happy to help you.

Does the product come with a microphone so I can use it for a teleconference with my laptop ?

    Didie

Thank you for your inquiry. Yes this model does come with an inline mic cable, however the mic was designed for use with a phone for answering calls. It may work with your laptop, but its subjective to your laptop's compatibility.

Can this product be used with my laptop computer?

    Nurse Betty

You may connect the headphones to a standard 3.5mm headphone connection.
