Each headphone will have its own sonic signature and will not be exactly like the ATH-M50x headphones. I recommend trying them out for yourself and see if the ATH-E50 IEM will best suit your needs.

The ear pieces between the E-40's and E-50's are the same. Both come with XS/S/M/L sized pieces. If you are using the smaller pieces, try using the Large ones.

Yes, the ATH-E50 In-Ear Monitor Headphones may be used with your M2 system. Each headphone will have its own sonic signature and I recommend listening to them for yourself. (I personally love the ATH-E50 and think you will as well!)
