The ATH-SR6BTBK Wireless Over-Ear Headphones let you enjoy amazing, high-fidelity audio whether you choose to listen over a traditional wired connected or via Bluetooth® wireless technology. The headphones are compatible with Qualcomm aptX, AAC and SBC codecs, and connect easily with smartphones, tablets, music players, and other devices. Adding devices in the headphones' memory is made even easier with NFC (Near Field Communication) functionality, which enables touch pairing and connection with any compatible device.

The ATH-SR6BTBK features powerful 45 mm drivers that are capable of reproducing Hi-Res Audio (5–40,000 Hz frequency response) when used with the included 1.2 m (3.9') cable. The cable is equipped with mic and controls so it can also be used to operate devices in areas where Bluetooth wireless technology is prohibited or when headphone battery power is low. For wireless use, the headphones have a mic and volume/control switch built into the left earcup, making it easy to answer calls, adjust volume and handle music and video playback (play, pause, fast-forward, reverse, next/previous track).

The ATH-SR6BTBK's comfortable over-ear design provides excellent sound isolation for the best listening experience in both wireless and wired modes. When travelling, the earcups fold in on the headband for a space-saving fit in the included carrying pouch.

The headphones' internal lithium polymer battery provides approximately 30 hours of continuous use (1,000 hours in standby mode) and can be recharged using the included 1.0 m (3.3') USB charging cable.

    About High-Resolution Audio
In Brief: The Move to Hi-Res Audio
While many listeners may believe that high-resolution audio came along with the introduction of the Compact Disc in 1982, constraints on the disc's storage space always prevented CD audio (standardized at 44.1 kHz/16-bit) from fully and completely reproducing the original recorded sound. The advent and subsequent popularity of MP3s only made this problem more pronounced – the necessary compression of these files causes audio information to be lost, thus greatly reducing the audio quality. But with lossless audio file formats, faster Internet speeds, and storage space increasingly easy to come by (and in ever-smaller packages), the push is on to create audio equipment capable of capturing and reproducing true Hi-Res Audio, generally considered to be 96 kHz/24-bit or better. The Hi-Res Audio logo certifies that a product meets the Hi-Res Audio standards. Per these standards, headphones must have transducer frequency performance to at least 40 kHz. As a producer of these types of audiophile headphones since 1972, Audio-Technica is well-positioned to provide audio solutions that meet the demands of Hi-Res Audio media formats, allowing for the full reproduction of their extended sonic characteristics.

AT Doesn't do it with volume...

Volume is determined by the source but even with the iPhone and LG TV turned up to maximum, the AT Headphones volume is inadequate, especially when using Bluetooth. Bluetooth listening was the entire purpose of buying the headphones - TV at night and music. Folding the headphones causes bumps and friction between left and right pods and the hard, brittle material is bound to scratch and show wear scars early. Was hoping the purchase was a deal - there's always a reason when products are reduced in price.

This is the best wireless headphones you can buy under $300.

This is the best wireless headphone you can get for under $300. They are very comfortable, have excellent sound quality and they are so darn good looking. It is one refined product. Even the packing is impressive. I like how they fold up and I appreciate it came with a elegant storage bag. Very high quality at a very good price.

    Ex. San Jose CA. lol

    Amazing set of headphones.

I've been using m50x for a long time since no other brands could satisfy me with the clarity of the sounds; I mostly listen to hard rock/heavy metal/AoR/Some 80s 90s Europos and audio clarity is the highest priority for me. Any artificial bass or saturation over the file is a complete no no and this one delivers the crystal clear sound as the file delivers. I mostly use this with my phone LG V20 which delivers the HiFi through it's' quad DAC so I am able to get the full range of the sound over the wire and no single drop upto 10m wtih 320kbps vbr at 16bit files over BT. Controlling is super easy, no rocket science, to the point button arrangements; on/off switch, volume slider which is track changer as well and push to play/pause... Love the simplicity. Comfortable cushioned headband supported by the metal bracket, no wobbly parts or hinges and well finished. It does not leak the sound as well and isolate most of the noise from the outside. ATH SR6BT, for this price range, is definitely the best of it's kind. Bottom line: If you are punk/hip hop/millenial pop lover then ATHs are NOT for you because AT does not twist the sound by adding bass or cutting down the mid and/or high end of frequencies. If you love to listen to your tracks as it is with clarity, don't look otherwise, JUST GET IT...

    It's mostly good

They sound amazing for anything with acoustic guitars. But feels lacking in any genre that has a lot of bass.

Not a good headphone set for different music genres

These headphones do not have a full sounding sound. Bass is missing, mids and highs can become overwhelming. Bluetooth volume gets about half as high as it does using the wired connection. I would not recommend these to anyone that listens to hip hop, they sound good listening to rock/metal.

  • Q & A

What material are the ear cushions? Are they leather?

    PA Labelle

The Audio-Technica ATH-SR6BT Headphones are not made with any animal byproducts; the earpads are not leather. The earpads we use are made with a vinyl-based or polyurethane-based material that we refer to as leatherette. Please note that we no longer use protein leather in any of our products. This was a company wide directive issued by Headquarters Quality Assurance Department in 2010.

Like someone already asked a few months ago: I get mono sound when I use thé headphones with the wire. To get the stereo sound, I have to push the button on the wire, and I need to maintain it pushed

Make certain the straight connection is going into the headphones and the right angle connector is going into your device. Additionally make certain the connection is fully seated in both the headphones and the source. If you are still experiencing an issue, please contact our Service Department at (330) 686-2600 ext 5003 or at for assistance with this.

Do I need to fully charge my headphones before I use them for the first time?

Yes, it is recommended but not mandatory.

Is it okay if I sweat while I have this headphones on?

Yes, but as there is no IP rating, it is recommended to wipe down you headphones after use while sweating to prolong the life.

Hi! Sometimes, when I'm using the product via Bluetooth, it emits a series of beeping noises. I read the manual but it does not seem to explain this. I thought ti was an indicator for a low battery, but the battery is not close enough to die out. Thank you for your help.

Please contact our Audio Solutions Department at (330) 686-2600 ext 5000 or at for assistance with this.

How long does it take to fully charge the SR6BT

    Approximately 5 hours.

I try more than one time sometimes to pair it with the tv Samsung, and sometimes it goes unpair by itself, is there any solutions. My tv firmware is up to date.

Without using wire , can i make call or receive call on Bluetooth , does it have wireless mic on the headphone for speaking..? Thanks.

Yes, the microphone is in the ear cup and may be used without the cable.

Is it possible to buy the 3.5mm cable separately anywhere?

Please contact our Parts Department at (330) 686-2600 ext 5002 or at for assistance with this.

How do you control the volume on SR6BT headphones

There is no volume attenuator (analog or digital) on the ATH-SR6BT headphones and you may adjust the volume on your source device. If neither has them in a wired connection, you may use an inline volume attenuator.
