The ATH-ANC70 QuietPoint« headphones feature large-aperture 40 mm drivers with a rare earth magnet system and high sensitivity to provide generous volume levels from any music source. The headphones also work when the noise-cancelling function is turned off, and operate in passive mode without batteries. Noise-cancelling electronics are fully integrated in each earpiece, with no need for external modules.

So now you can hear everything as it was intended. And absolutely nothing else. Find your QuietPoint«

    Fall Apart Easily

    2

My headphones ended up falling apart after about 2 years of what I would call light usage. I used them for a couple of hours three to four times a week. I took good care of my headphones, and I never dropped them. Today, I unfolded my headphones out of their case, but a plastic piece on one side of the headphones snapped off causing them to fall apart. Looking closely at the other side of the headphones, I noticed the same plastic piece is on the verge of snapping off. Other than them breaking so easily, they are good headphones. It's a shame they don't last very long. I would advise not to get these headphones. If they break so easily, then what is the point of buying it? Go get something else.

    Good while they lasted, then...

    2

I'm a professional camera operator in the entertainment industry and travel extensively out of the country for work. I came across these headphones while on a long layover. They cost more at the airport, likely due to the nature of being a captive audience member while between flights. But I tried them in the store up against a pair of Bose and I like them just the same and they did cost less. Cut to three years later and the headphones began falling apart all within a months time. They practically fell apart while wearing them. I take good care of the things I own and I only use these for travel and they live in their case when not in use. So I was very surprised when they took a turn for the worst. The sound quality was pretty darn good although the construction was a bit weak and you could hear some crackling of the construction when you move your head. But that was never a big deal to me since I was stuck in an airplane seat either sleeping or watching a movie. Bottom line, I would have expected these to last at least twice as long since I was using them in a controlled setting and not on a daily basis.

Earcuff material separates from base, exposing foam material

    1

The black earcuff material separates at the exterior base of attachment. Underlying earcuff baseplate is sharp and cuts through the earcuff material, exposing the underlying foam material. Impossible to repair and no replacement cuffs are available.

    Poor build quality, regret purchasing

    2

I was very disappointed with this product. I previously owned the ATH-ANC7b which are a great pair of noise-cancelling headphones with good build quality. After 5 years of daily use, my ANC7bs started to show their age and I was given a pair of the ATH-ANC70 as a gift. Based on my previous experience with Audio-Technica I had very high expectations for these headphones. Initially, I was very impressed with the noise-cancelling and general sound quality of these headphones. However, after a few months of use the flaws started becoming more apparent. The hinge is very flimsy and creaking noises can be heard if you move at all with the headphones on. Additionally, with ANC on the headphones will randomly produce very loud, high pitched popping noises (even after putting in a fresh battery) that are extremely irritating. I can no longer wear these headphones and have gone back to my 5 year old ANC7bs. Unfortunately I am outside of the return window for the store these were purchased from so I am stuck with them for now. In the past I have raved to my friends about the ANC7bs for being nearly as good as Bose at half the price, but after experiencing the poor build quality of this product I can no longer recommend Audio-Technica headphones. Save your money, don't buy this product.

Great if designed by an engineer, but sadly not so

    2

So, as cheap active noise cancelling headphones; they are good sound quality, decent noise cancelling for the sound, but not long after purchase (around 2 months) the band of the headphones cracked on one of the sides and when it did so, the adjustment band popped out of the side and the piece that clicked into the notches as it adjusted flew out and was lost. I managed to glue it back together so they were usable. shortly after this, i noticed a small suction-like noise when using the noise cancelling on the left ear, but as music easily covered it up, i didn't worry too much, thought it might just go away. Now it has gotten to the point where it is constantly popping and hissing only in the left ear (with ANC on ofc.) and, very ironically, resembles the engine sound of a jet. Overall, if they had stayed working as they had and hadn't broken, but the flimsy construction means that they are more than likely to break as mine did soon after getting them

Love the features, hate that the hinge broke so easily!

    2

I loved my ANC-70s. Truly. I would turn them on, place them on my ears and then finally have some peace. (Until the battery starts to wear out and you get ear-splitting screeches and popping, but even that I could live with.) Then the hinge broke after less than five months. The headphones are designed to twist and fold flat into their case and one day the twisting hinge simply cracked inside and now they're useless. With the cracked hinge, the headphones no longer fit properly or close over your ears (one pushes back and out) and the noise cancelling is destroyed. :( Searching for a replacement. Will never buy a set again with so many points of failure.

Not tough enough for a New Yorker

    3

I originally bought these headphones at an airport. I had a sound induced headache and was going on a transcontinental flight. It was christmas time so I said to myself "Hey, maybe I should treat myself to a great pair of headphones." I personally love the design and appearance of the headphones, BUT the plastic that was used at the pivot points is very flimsy. After about one month of use, it broke the left ear cup now dangles and refuses to sit right around my ears. The noise cancelling feature is therefore useless. I honestly expected them to last at least 5-6 months before this happened. This is the same problem I had with Turtle Beach Headphones as well. Being the young foolish kid that I am, I threw out the receipt so I can't even get them fixed under the warranty. Perhaps using a ball joint to control pivots would make it easier to adjust when placing them over the ears and prevent breaks like that.

Audio quality declines after 5 months of normal use.

    3

When I initially bought these headphones I was impressed. Good sturdy design, good audio quality for the price and I like the carry case it came with. After 5 months of normal use my opinion of these headphones has changed significantly. The audio quality has depreciated, the bass still ok but there's a lot of higher frequency cut off (hi-hats don't sound very clean or real any more) and overall the separation of sounds has decreased. I still use them for their noise cancellation but even then I sometimes get weird noises coming through, created by external sounds. Maybe I should have forked out a bit more and got some nice Bose headphones.

    Another great product

I actually won these from an airline. Great audio quality, looks very good, noise-canceling feature is excellent. The only thing that would have made it better for me is if it were wireless.

  • Q & A

Is the volume slider an attenuator or does it control phone volume?

    AQ

The control is a local volume attenuator and will change the volume to the headphones. It will not control the source volume.

I have been using these headphones w/o any problems until my last two flights. On the way out of town, when the plane was starting its ascent, there was very loud crackling from both the left and right ears. I had to take them off, it was deafening. By the time we leveled off, they were fine and I could use them for the rest of the flight, including descent. On the way back home, they crackled from the time the flight left the ground to when I got home. They were unusable in NC mode which stinks b/c planes are very loud. When I got home, I turned them on again and there was no crackle. What causes this crackle? I only use them on planes so if they have an issue with planes, I need to know. Thank you.

    Kelly

Thank you for your inquiry. This sounds like RFI (Radio Frequency Interference) from something in the airplane. The active circuitry of the noise cancelation was quite possible picking up something being transmitted on the plane.

Dear Audio-Technica, I got your headphones about 6 months ago. I got these headphones to supplement my other ones i was carrying all day, so no I will have one at work with noise cancelling and other at home. After 4 months of light usage - putting on head and back to the case, the hinge mechanism broke. I was trying to use the warranty, but sadly in my country, any mechanical problem is automatically cancelling the warranty no matter what reason. I would like ask for the next step. According to how many people complains about the built quality and hinge problem, there is obviously a problem with this. Is there any way to get a replacement for this faulty one or at least to buy a replacement part? Thank you. Best Matej
