  • Overview

The ATH-A1000Z Art Monitor® closed-back dynamic headphones feature proprietary large-aperture 53 mm drivers to deliver exquisite Hi-Res Audio reproduction. The hand-assembled drivers include OFC-7N bobbin-wound voice coils for ultra-efficient signal transmission, a pure iron yoke for superior transient response, and a top-mounted PCB for smoother airflow that enables precise diaphragm movement.

The housings of the ATH-A1000Z are crafted from high-rigidity aluminum and incorporate a lightweight magnesium alloy baffle to reduce unwanted resonance. The housings also feature Audio-Technica’s Double Air Damping System (D.A.D.S) for deep, natural-sounding bass reproduction. The bass is further extended by the headphones’ stitched, ergonomic earpads, which provide outstanding sound isolation along with unmatched comfort. The auto-adjusting fit of A-T’s improved 3D wing support system adds to the comfort, allowing you to listen to the headphones’ pure, high-resolution audio for hours on end.

      Comments about Audio-Technica ATH-A1000Z Art Monitor® Closed-Back Dynamic Headphones:

Powering these cans with an FX Audio DAC/Amp. Delivers plenty of power thanks to these headphones low ohms'. Really enjoying these so far, a little tight so extended use with glasses can be uncomfortable. Sound quality is wonderful and with some breaking in the sound just improves with time. Using these for casual listening. An interesting pair of headphones and if you need a closed pair at around this price i'd pull the trigger on these.

      • Q:

How does the noise isolation perform? Also is there a lot of sound leaking?
Asked on 10/25/2017 by BeepLettuce from Calfornia

        • Staff Reviewer

          A:

Passive noise isolation does not have a standard and hence, is not measured. Sound leakage will be determined by the fit and clamp pressure which will be different for each person's head.

          A:

The Audio-Technica ATH-A1000z Headphones are not made with any animal byproducts; the earpads are not leather. The earpads we use are made with a vinyl-based or polyurethane-based material that we refer to as leatherette.

        Hi,
what's the difference between these and the 990z model? The specs in the descriptions seem to be the same.
        Thank you.

          A:

The 1000Z uses a magnesium alloy for the baffle material. The provides a lightweight, low resonance baffle. The 1000Z has a larger soundstage with more air around individual instruments. The overall tonal balance of the two is very similar, with the 990Z having a slightly weightier bass.

I have been struggling all day to figure out what headphones are best for me, I have narrowed it down to either these or the ATH-AD1000X headphones. I plan on doing a lot of gaming, video editing, and listening to music with the new headphones, but I'm not sure which would be best for that.
