The ATH-A1000Z Art Monitor® closed-back dynamic headphones feature proprietary large-aperture 53 mm drivers to deliver exquisite Hi-Res Audio reproduction. The hand-assembled drivers include OFC-7N bobbin-wound voice coils for ultra-efficient signal transmission, a pure iron yoke for superior transient response, and a top-mounted PCB for smoother airflow that enables precise diaphragm movement.

The housings of the ATH-A1000Z are crafted from high-rigidity aluminum and incorporate a lightweight magnesium alloy baffle to reduce unwanted resonance. The housings also feature Audio-Technica’s Double Air Damping System (D.A.D.S) for deep, natural-sounding bass reproduction. The bass is further extended by the headphones’ stitched, ergonomic earpads, which provide outstanding sound isolation along with unmatched comfort. The auto-adjusting fit of A-T’s improved 3D wing support system adds to the comfort, allowing you to listen to the headphones’ pure, high-resolution audio for hours on end.

Great sound. Worthy upgrade from M50x's.

Powering these cans with an FX Audio DAC/Amp. Delivers plenty of power thanks to these headphones low ohms'. Really enjoying these so far, a little tight so extended use with glasses can be uncomfortable. Sound quality is wonderful and with some breaking in the sound just improves with time. Using these for casual listening. An interesting pair of headphones and if you need a closed pair at around this price i'd pull the trigger on these.

Hi i have a1000z and when i listen some music from spotify or tidal at hifi i hear some noise for example "give in to me" from michael jackson in 0:45 sec and in 3:30 to end and "believe!" From Boom bap zac from start to end. It means the headphone has damaged? Thank you.

Please contact our Audio Solutions Department at (330) 686-2600 ext 5000 or at for assistance with this.

I have a1000z and normal head but earpad and headpad pressure my ears and head what can i do? How can i fix it to my head?

As each person's head is different and not suiting your needs, I recommend returning them at your point of purchase.

How does the noise isolation perform? Also is there a lot of sound leaking?

Passive noise isolation does not have a standard and hence, is not measured. Sound leakage will be determined by the fit and clamp pressure which will be different for each person's head.

What are the earpads made of?

The Audio-Technica ATH-A1000z Headphones are not made with any animal byproducts; the earpads are not leather. The earpads we use are made with a vinyl-based or polyurethane-based material that we refer to as leatherette.

Hi, what's the difference between these and the 990z model? The specs in the descriptions seem to be the same. Thank you.

The 1000Z uses a magnesium alloy for the baffle material. The provides a lightweight, low resonance baffle. The 1000Z has a larger soundstage with more air around individual instruments. The overall tonal balance of the two is very similar, with the 990Z having a slightly weightier bass.

I have been struggling all day to figure out what headphones are best for me, I have narrowed it down to either these or the ATH-AD1000X headphones. I plan on doing a lot of gaming, video editing, and listening to music with the new headphones, but I'm not sure which would be best for that.

Thanks for your inquiry. The ATH-A1000Z is a great choice for you. It has great frequencies response, really nice crisp highs with solid warm bass, also sits really comfortably around your head.

Is this product noise cancelling and if so can the user control and activate this?

There is no active noise cancelling technology in the ATH-A1000z.

Is the cable removable from the headphone?

No, the cable is permanently attached.

When do you expect this to be available in the US?

The ATH-A1000z headphones will be availble through an Authorized Audio-Technica Dealer in the near future. Keep up to date with releases and other Audio-Technica new by signing up for the E-News Letter.
