ATH-ANC23 QuietPoint® Active Noise-Cancelling In-Ear Headphones reduce distracting background noise by up to 90% while offering the superior sound that makes Audio-Technica a world-leading pro audio company.

Engineered to create a comfortable listening environment in areas with high ambient noise, these in-ear headphones feature a miniature microphone in each earpiece that picks up ambient noise (such as traffic, air-handling systems, etc.). Electronics in the control box create a noise-cancelling wave that is 180° out of phase with the ambient noise. This wave acts like a noise eraser: it cancels out the annoying sounds that surround you without diminishing the audio you want to hear. The result…a peaceful enclave to enjoy the music or movies of your choice.

    clip design needs improvement

    4

This little headphone worked for what I bought it for which was to block out chatters around me while working. I had it for about 4 years and finally the plastic clip in the back broke near the spring where it bends. Since I almost never used the clip, this was almost certain due to aging of the plastic and improper stress on the bend (as both sides of the bend are adding a lot of pressure/stress to it) . This is an area for design improvement.

3 pairs failed. Too flimsy. Very disappointing. Stay away!

I've had 3, yes, 3 pairs of these noise-cancelling earbuds in the past 18 months. Each pair just stops working. Last week on a plane I was listening to music with the noise cancelling on. Without any motion or movement the sound just stopped working permanently again. The wires are so flimsy that any bending causes them to break. I'm extremely frustrated and disappointed. I won't be buying them again.

    I am a happy "Sleeper"

    4

I use the ear buds strictly for sleeping. More comfortable than the Bose QC-20's i also have and the AAA battery is more convenient.

    Very Happy

I picked these up on closeout at a national office supply store a couple of years ago. I paid less than a pair of cheap ear buds would cost. These are very effective at noise cancelling and work well in the office and on airlines. Noise cancellation is much better than the last couple of on-ear headphones I had. The sound is good without being overly bassy like so many modern headphones tend to be. The highs could have a little more life but are certainly acceptable. They are certainly worth the price and sound as good or better than anything I have heard in their price range. Given that I paid a fraction of the list price I am very happy with them. Highly Recommended!

The product did not work at all

Product did not work. It is not worth the money and time to send this unit back for repairs.

    Good Headphones. Break Easily

    4

Had these for a few years (3 years) and the quietpoint has quit working. They are now out of warranty. I love Audio Technica products, but I would not get these headphones again as I did not even use the headphones that much

    Excellent for Road Warriors

I travel 44 weeks a year and have owned these for 4 years. These travel with me every week. They are nice and small, unlike the large over the ear you see people wearing. Having a replaceable AAA battery means it never dies as I carry an extra battery in the provided travel case. Before I put my music on my smart phone, I had plenty of room in the carrying case for my iPod. The only visible wear is the model number printing is wearing off.

I am so happy with this headset. Great sound quality and good noise reduction on the airplane.

Hi, Can the noise cancelling box be detached when not in active mode?

    Felix

Thank you for your inquiry. To activate noise-cancelling function, move the power switch on your control box to the "ON" position; power indicator should light (red). (If you do not wish to use the active noise-cancelling function, move power switch to the "OFF" position.)

Is there any difference between the ATH-ANC23 and the ATH-ANC33iS ? I can not find any difference execpt a bit different in looks. Specs are identical? So what's going on?

    Kent

Thank you for your inquiry. The ATH-ANC33iS have a smartphone cable with mic and controller for answering phone calls and controlling music. The ATH-ANC23 does not.

Instructions specify AAA alkaline battery. Why can't rechargeable batteries be used?

    Paul

A rechargeable battery may be used as long as it will physically fit in the battery holder. The performance specifications of the headphones may vary due to the use of a different type battery. Measurements are performed using an alkaline type battery.

    sshaw

What does the noise reduction curve look like. I see 20 db on your web site, up to 90% on the packaging. What is the reduction at various Hz?

    Paul

Thank you for your inquiry. These are designed to provide maximum noise cancellation of low frequencies, primary below 500 Hz.

    AudioSolutionsManager

Do the ANC-23s have a microphone and other required technology so they can be used to take a telephone call?

    Moose

    No they do not.

I had recently bought a pair of there and straight out of the box they didn't work at all. The only way I could hear anything is if the volume is all the way up and it is still extremely faint. What should I do?

I've had the ath-anc23 for a while now and they're my favorite iems that I have owned but for some reason the noise cancelling has stopped working normally and actually seems to amplify external noise while on. I've had them long enough that they're out of warranty so I'm wondering if you do repairs or should I just buy a new pair. Again. An excellent set of iems, the only pair I've owned that lasted more than a few months.

Will the active noise cancelling feature work with no audio signal input?

    JohnT

Yes, you may use the noise canceling technology without any audio signal present.

I have the QuietPoint ATH-ANC23. How do I open the compartment to insert the battery? Please reply to tbeynon@mgbwlaw.com I do not have time to search in public forums. I was travelling, didn't have room for the box, I just grabbed the little black bag, I didn't think it would be this difficult.
