With newly designed drivers and in-line mic and control, the ATH-CKS550iS Solid Bass in-ear headphones give you portable, smartphone-compatible headphones with superb bass reproduction. The powerful 9.8 mm Dual Magnetic-Field Drivers feature an extra magnet in front of the driver to create a concentrated magnetic field that helps produce full, textured bass. Audio-Technica’s specially designed Multiple-Transition Diaphragms add to the expansive bass response, as does the new Bass Venting System, which provides excellent air damping.

The 1.2 m (3. 9') flat cable includes an in-line mic and control that lets you answer calls and control music on your smartphone or other portable device. The ATH-CKS550iS also comes with four sizes of silicone eartips (XS/S/M/L) that fit onto the headphones’ two-position posts, supplying a custom fit with outstanding sound isolation. A convenient carrying pouch is also included.

Available in black (ATH-CKS550iSBK), blue (ATH-CKS550iSBL), white (ATH-CKS550iSWH), and red (ATH-CKS550iSRD).

    Medium quality, bare minimum sound

Got these to replace a pair of Samsung earbuds with very low quality sound. While these earbuds were an upgrade from that, they aren't the best headphones I've ever used. Solid bass isn't an accurate description of the sound. It's a lot closer to moderate bass. You can tell there is low end present, but it has no significant impact. These headphones should've been marketed as having an overall balanced spectrum, because that's what they are. If you really want bass, just go with Apple earbuds. There's also lots of noise that comes from the cord simply moving freely as you walk, so these are not very pleasant to use unless you're sitting still for long periods of time. And I swear ever since I've gotten these, there's been subtle white noise in the background on my phone whenever audio is playing. It's not there when my phone is silent, only when audio plays, no matter the song or the volume. If there's a short moment of silence in a song, the noise stops. But if anything starts playing again, it's back. I don't mind using these earbuds, but they're not what I expected, and I wouldn't have bought them if I knew they were like this. You can get much better headphones for the same value elsewhere.

    Poor Bass quality

The bass feels empty as compared to other products in the market (e.g. Sony's earpiece)

Great pair of earphones for listening to rock/alt. music

I was studying in a library while listening to Spotify. I didn't realize Vamos by the Pixies was playing and at first thought someone was playing it out loud on their laptop's speaker. Great pair of earphones for a non-basshead.

  • Q & A

    Are replacement ear pieces available?

Please contact our Parts Department at (330) 686-2600 ext 5002 or at for assistance with this.

Do i need an amp to drive these pair of earbuds properly? I've tested them with various smartphones and none of them seem to do the job.

Thank you for your inquiry. An amp should not necessary.

Compatible with both Android and iOS devices?

I just bought these earphones, and I would like to know if they are sweatproof.

No, they are no IEC rating "IPX5" "Washable"

I have a iPod 6th gen and I'm wondering if it can power it enough so would it be able to clearly hit 20 Hz or would I need an external amp? I'm a bass head and I'm considering buying them.

Thank you for your inquiry. Your iPhone should drive these just fine.

Can I use it on my pc ? or is it just for smartphone ? thank you in advance

Thank you for your inquiry. Yes, they should. Please note that you will not be able to control the music, but for listening they are fine.

Why is the ATH-CKS550i (The one that was specially designed for apple devices with inline volume control and siri functionality) not releasing in USA? I can only find ATH-CKS550is and not ATH-CKS550i, Can i expect it to be released anytime soon?

Thank you for your inquiry. That would be a marketing decision based on many factors.

Volume Controls such as Volume up and down buttons included?

There is no inline volume control but rather inline control with mic for answering/ending calls and controlling music & video playback on smartphones and other portable devices
