    Great product

I bought this pair after my ATH-M40s broke down. These are really great. I've had them for about 3 months now. Fantastic quality, awesome looking, I absolutely love the fact that the cords are detachable now. One thing you should know is that these are a little more snug on your head than the ATH-M40s. These take about a week of wearing to break in... so don't freak out if they feel a little tight when you first get them. Overall these are great headphones. I would definitely recommend them.

I bought my Pro500mk2 in Taiwan for a very good price and has been using it for 2 years now. the sound quality is amazing and i can hear even the most quiet sound in the music i listen to. i highly recommend this headphone if you dont have the money for a M50s or Pro700mk2

Hi - love the headphones but unfortunately the ear pads are cracked and rough. Can you please advise if there are replacements available and provide the part number(s)?

Please contact our Parts Department at (330) 686-2600 ext 5002 or at for assistance with this.

Which has better base, the ATH-WS1100iS or these?

Sound is subjective and I always recommend trying these headphones out for yourself and see which will best suit your needs.

    Are these headphones over-ear?

These headphones are considered over ear but with each person having different sizes, I always recommend trying them out for yourself to see if they will best suit your needs.

What meterial are these made of, most headphones I have owned have been plastic (well all of them) and I have had the ear cups break away from the head band on more pairs than I care to count.. I'm looking for an alternative to plastic like billet aluminum or something. Do these fit the bill?

Thank you for your inquiry. Inside the headband is metal, the rest is a Durable elastomer frame.

    how much?

how is the sound leakage on this, I imagine by the description it would be good, but there is no specifics about it.

Thank you for your inquiry. That is a subjective questions. They are designed for DJ use, so they do offer a good deal of passive isolation, although it would greatly depend on the volume of the source.

Can I buy online the replacement cables and earpads for the ath-pro500mk2? and where? I want to buy these headphones but I am worried about not find parts to replace for example the cable of possible damage and also the earpads, I searched a lot but found nothing (at least in the US), so where can I buy online the parts for this headphones? Thanks in advance!

What are the key differences between the pro500mk2 and the pro700mk2? Is the 700 considerably more bassy? Also, are the earpads bigger on the 700 than the 500? I love my bassy music but am not sure whether it is worth me choosing the 700 over the 500. Does the 500 still have strong bass? I am not producing, just using mainly for day to day listening.

The primary difference is the size of the earcup. Sonically they are similar. However, I would say that the PRO500MK2 have slightly more mids, and the PRO700MK2 has slightly more bass. Both, however, sound very good and are sonically balanced well. You might also find the following video from our UK division, helpful: Thanks!

Are there any safe headphone amps for these headphones? i have these headphones and love them to death i was just wondering if one would benefit any from a headphone amplifier and if so what would be the recommended specs for an amp, so as not to damage the headphones?

With any current-model Audio-Technica headphones, it is not a requirement to use/purchase a headphone amplifier to be used in addition to your playback device. However, if you prefer the sound of a dedicated headphone amplifier, that shouldn't be a problem either. Overall, it is your call to use (or not to use) a headphone amplifier. It depends on what you prefer. Since Audio-Technica does not manufacture any headphone amplifiers for United States markets, if you would like any further recommendations, you would need to ask a HiFi dealer that sells headphone amplifiers. Thanks!

Best bang for the buck? I listen to a lot of bass music, but I also have a good amount of music that has very little bass as well. I have narrowed my choices down to two headphones: the ATH-PRO500MK2RD and the ATH-M50RD. I want a well balanced headphone that is leaning towards bass. Both these headphones are within my price range so as soon as I get an opinion or two I'll have come to a decision!

The ATH-PRO500MK2RD are DJ headphones, that have an extended bass-frequency response, and a much tighter fit for DJ's. The ATH-M50 are a more balanced Studio-Monitoring headphone that has adequate bass response, and might be considered more comfortable for extended use periods. To describe the difference between the two headphones, the Audio-Technica UK division made a video, linked below. Although the video features the PRO700MK2, the application is exactly the same. - Hopefully the above information will help you make a more informed decision when selecting which headphones to purchase. Thanks!
