Audio-Technica Appoints Simon Hedges as Business Development Manager European Consumer Market

Former Senior JVC Product Manager to spearhead growth of Audio-Technica’s CE business

Leeds 04-26-2007 Audio-Technica Ltd has announced the appointment of Simon Hedges as Consumer Business Development Manager for Europe. Hedges, who joins the company from electronics giant, JVC, took up his position at the beginning of March.

Hedges was previously with JVC for nine years, and brings a wealth of CE market experience to the position, including retail, national account management and marketing. While at JVC, Hedges helped spearhead the company’s growth into new market areas, and to a resultant top three market position. Most recently he held the position of Senior Product Manager, responsible for audio product development and business strategy. During this time, JVC quickly became established as one of the top consumer audio brands, and the first major Japanese brand to expand its’ line-up beyond traditional audio systems, with support for Digital Audio Broadcasting, and the launch of products supporting the iPod® phenomenon.

As a former professional musician, Hedges is no stranger to the Audio-Technica brand. It was during one of many trips to Japan that he became aware of Audio-Technica’s consumer product line-up, and realised the market potential for the high quality product range in Europe.

Hedges position at Audio-Technica Ltd, as Business Development Manager European Consumer Market, will see him concentrate on the development of the product portfolio and the consumer product distribution strategy. This will involve the creation of trading relationships with retail partners and distributors who can best reflect the quality and distinctive style of the range.
