this microphone is used on a Macbook pro and is excellent.

I record audio for the book I am writing and use the computer to transcribe it. The clear undistorted recording leads to almost flawless reproduction on the page. I have also used the mic to record audio from speakers of very old records and again the results are excellent. Pick your recording environment carefully.

Stay away from this if you have windows 10

    1

I spent a lot of money on this, and the quality has always been poor. Volume levels are very low even if you talk into the microphone at very close range. The only fix is to digitally up the volume with all the hiss and hum that this brings with it. It turns out it's a windows driver issue, and audio-technica have completely failed to provide a replacement driver. Quite frankly, I feel as though I've had my money stolen from me.

Stay away if you are using windows 10

Was a great mic when I first bought it and used it with windows 8. After uppgrading to windows 10 the sound quality is really bad. It still "works" but the recorded volume is extremely low. If you raise the volume, the noise will get so high that the recording is trash. Many people have complained about this, but no action is made by Audio Technica or Microsoft.

First off, I am not a professional in this field. In fact this is the most expensive microphone that I have ever used. However that means I went into this blind and I have a pretty different perspective in this field. This prouduct was very easy to use. I just plugged it in and it worked. I use the microphone for some YouTube videos and it was very simple to use in every program. Just to test, I I tried it out in the windows camera app as well as some apps like skype and google hangouts. In those programs you're not really going to want to buy a mic this expensive and you may want to go for something cheaper. In the end this is an easy and good sounding mic that is a great choice if your just starting out.

YES, it's worth the small price!!!

Well, let me start by sharing... I owned a Music Store in the late 70s early 80s- We sold Audio Technica products even back then... I'm a Professional Musician, Producer, Multi-Instrumentalist... One has to step back from the instantaneous, social media- bash, dash, "hecto-confusing", gratification/confusion World we now live in... By stepping back... remember what you paid for this mic... It's well worth the admission , the set up ( plug and play), and the ever hanging ways to records music and voice. This , considering it's price, really checks all of the boxes... Enjoy your time, enjoy your music and enjoy LIFE :-) Thx AT- good Mic at this price point!!!

This is one of the best usb mics on the market. I use this microphone to do voice overs and a twitch talk show. I love it, it's easy to use and has no static like the Bule yeti.

Best Mic for USB radio production on the road!

    5

This is a great product. I have a daily radio program and this mic is my favorite usb mic. I was using various Blue usb mics and had loads of white noise. None with the AT2020. No need for bulky secondary mixing gear. I replaced the small travel stand with a drum kick mic stand, which works great. I bought an after market foam pop filter. My sound quality rivals what I get on the radio studio pro E.V. voice mics. I also have the xlr version which had to have a mixer. When I travel I use the small stand or take my desk mic stand in two pieces. I do the initial edits in sound studio, an elegant little program that does effective linear editing, then I drop my edits into Logic X. I can get an amazing warm sound with no ad ons! There is no latency in the earphone jack as well.

  • Q & A

When I stream using this microphone my voice cuts in and out sounding like i'm lagging. Is there a converter I would need to buy to plug my USB in and convert it into my computer?

    James

What does the mix control exactly do? Does it help reduce/avoid clipping or distortion if turned down? if so, how is this different from a gain control? if not, what are its practical applications in live sessions?

    Al

The mix control allows you to either monitor the direct signal from the microphone element (when dialed to MIC) for zero latency monitoring, or monitor the signal from the connected computer (when dialed to COM.) The variable dial allows you to determine how much of each of those signals you desire to help recording with latency issues.

Am I able to connect this Microphone to iPad?. What accessories will I need?

    Trezzie

The AT2020USB+ is designed to be used with a computer as the USB bus power from a computer offers 5v. Some people have successfully used the microphone with an iPad with the Apple Camera adapter (USB adapter) for their iOS devices.

    Brent

I am trying to install my new AT2020USB+ on my MacBooks which have different versions of OS X - however, whilst the System Preferences on both Macs allow me to select the mic for input and output, and the mic powers up, when I try and use it with Garageband they both revert to the internal inputs and outputs and there is no response from the mic or the headphones. I have tried selecting the AT2020 in System Preferences before opening Garageband, and also after opening. Help please.

Dear support, I have used the audio technical 2020 usb with my galaxy s8 plus successfully but with some lag Can you please help with a solution

    Ahmed

Latency is inherent with any digital connection. You may use the scroll wheel which would allow you to monitor the signal in realtime directly from the microphone element.

    Brent

I have used this microphone for a week with no issues. Suddenly in the middle of recording, my mac ceased to recognize it. I have restarted, plugged cords back in and every last thing I can think of. Help! I need it for a recording job!

Hello Can an audio interface be used with this microphone? Sorry if its a silly question, I don't know anything about these stuff

    krowahaha

An audio interface will process the A/D (analog to digital) conversion and since the AT2020US+ has an internal A/D converter and is already digital at the output connection, an external audio interface is not needed.
