    Mice mic once it's tweaked

I bought this mic on a whim. I already have some Audio-Technica mics so I knew the quality was good. I received it and used it that night. I use it in my Yamaha Tyros keyboard as I sing backups in one band using the keyboards vocoder. The thing squealed and feedback like crazy so I went back to my stand mic. Once I got home I tried again. This time I spent a good deal of time EQing (a lot!) and got it dialed in just right...and it works very nicely. Goodbye to the mic stand and mic in my face...which was my original goal. Don't really care for it in my head but I wear it around my neck which works fine. Overall a nice mic and I would buy it must spend some time getting it tweaked and EQed as it responds way different from a stand mic (SM58 style) and the small diaphragm must be right on axis with your mouth to get a decent sound without feedback.

    I absolutely LOVE this product.

I've had this michrophone for over ten years and it's in great shape and sounds great - still. Hope I can buy another in Canada when I need to.

    PRO 8HEx

I've used the PRO 8HEx fro about 8 years. It is very versitile. I went from gig to gig with 3 bands full time. Gigs every weekend. It was always the best sounding mic on stage.

    Middletown, OH, USA

    Great sound at reasonable price

I've owned two of these- the original still works, but looked worn, so I replaced it. I've tried headphone mics (and bought) more expensive, but keep coming back to the PRO 8HEx. I get compliments on clarity of vocals every gig. Very easy to keep in position, no feedback problems, even working within 5' of speakers. Before spending more money, try this great headset mic.

  • Q & A

I have owned one of these for 10+ years. The cushion support pads have deteriorated. Are replacements available? I live in the Seattle area. Can I buy these locally?

You may purchase the AT8142 pads from a local Authorized Audio-Technica Dealer.

Can the PR 08 hex be used as a wired microphone

Thank you for your inquiry. Yes this model is a wired microphone with an XLR connector.

Will this product work with the wireless mic receiver ATW-T310?

Thank you for your inquiry. No this model is terminated with an XLR connector. The model that will plug into one of our T310 body pack transmitters is the PRO 8HEcW:

is there a windscreen replacement for the microphone ?

Thank you for your inquiry. There are two windscreen options for this microphone. AT8139L(large), and AT8139S(small). These windcreens are available through our authorzed dealers if you are located in the US:

Will the PRO 8HEx be compatible to the ATW-T310B transmitter?

Thank you for your inquiry. No, you need the Pro 8hecw.

How can I get an owners guide for a pro 8HE wired headset mic?

    The Doctor

As most microphones are considered accessories, they do not include manuals. You may find the specification sheet for the PRO8HEx microphone here:

I have a old atw t51 transmitter will this head set work with this pld trans mitter it is 4 pin

No. You will use the PRO8HEcW as the "cW" indicates the proper 4 pin HRS connection used on UniPak transmitters.

How do you adjust the headband length?

There is no adjustment for headband length. The clamping pressure is determined by the size of your head. The headband is made from low-memory spring-type steel. Spread the headband and place it around the back of the head, then let it go. It will conform to your head. The size of the band allows for a good, comfortable fit on a variety head shapes and sizes. The mic is secure enough to withstand moderate physical activity without moving. This is a popular model for group exercise instructors for example.

Do you carry the temple pads for this headset?

Thanks for your inquiry. Yes, the model number is AT8142 for the temple pads. They can be purchased from any of our authorized Audio-Technica dealers.

How might I adapt a Pro 8HE, which has a four pin female connector to XLR? Our transmitter stopped working and we would like to hook this mic up to a mixer board directly. Thanks

Thank you for your inquiry. If the mic you have has the 4 pin HRS connector and were using it with an Audio-Technica belt pack transmitter, you will need to connect it to the AT8539 power module: The other end is XLR which will connect directly to your board via XLR cable.
