    Close, but no cigar

I bought several of these to use on a documentary film shoot and had to replace them all at the last minute with cheapo alternatives from Maplin because it turns out these cannot be plugged into a standard audio mixer as the stereo mini jacks are designed only for use with direct camera or WAV recorder inputs. With decent preamps I reckon the ATR3350 would sound quite good, alas the fundamental design flaws prevent them from being used this way, whereas the Prosound lav mics are both cheaper, more versatile and far more reliable in the same situation.

It's impossible to know if it's working or not.

    2

There's no way to know if it's working or not. There is no On/Off light. The battery is a difficult one to replace. I had all sort of trouble to get this to work with a Zoom H4n or a DSLR. Don't buy this.

Great Lav mic for low budget projects

    4

This product is okay for low budget, use it mainly indoors, with a good foam on it then the sound is acceptable. Battery is not an issue despite the fact that there is no light but one battery can work for 20hrs . I have used this lav mic together with rode smartlav+ in an interview and i was able to get good results.

    Poor Audio = Unusable

    1

Poor sound from day 1. Low audio. Yes, the battery was fresh. I wore it on my collar and I do not speak softly. But the audio recording is far short of the standard range I have gotten using either my iPhone or iPhone headphones. It was low enough that I could not distinguish whether it was muffled as well. Also, why no battery indicator? How are you supposed to know the battery is low or dead? Leave it up to chance? I would have paid 50% more for good audio and a low battery indicator. Great promise, poor delivery.

    Tie Clip and Noise Issues

    3

Purchased in Toronto from great vendor who automatically included alternate tie clip as AT supplied reportedly break when connecting to mic. Sure enough it does right out of the box. Using with Samsung Note 5 for Periscope. So many audio test Private Periscopes to determine working. After several dozen and numerous battery replacements, finally working. Audio quality is okay, not great. But getting to this point took several days of frustration. Better to pay for more expensive but user promoted mic like Rode Lav...We have the USB NTSB and its Great so went with lav thinking reviews must be incorrect?

    Why so much noise?

    3

I don't know if this is common but in my opinion the sound captured by the ATR3350 should be crystal clear. Every time I recordo someone talking, in a complete quiet room, there's this noise with the voice. Why is this? Is the microphone bad or am I doing something wrong? I'm recording it using a Canon 60D.

Good for single DSLR use but lack of technical info for mixi

Hi, Considering a debate/tv-set ...I am planning to connect 8 x Audio-Technica ATR-3350 mics to a "Behringer Q1202USB 12-Channel Mixer" in order to mix, equalize and use the mixer's RCA output to digital recording this sound in a computer. Is this possible with this equipments or you have any suggestion?

    Battery is impossible to change

    2

I have had some up and down experiences. Because there is no on-off light I have had the embarrassing experience of conducting an interview and then discovering I had not turned on the mike. Also because of the lack of a light I have left the mike on after the project and run down the battery. I can certainly take the blame for these two operator errors. BUT when I try to replace the battery I find the space so small that I cannot hold the spring down and insert the battery at the same time. Terrible design flaw as far as I am concerned. If there is an easy way to replace the battery please let me know.

    Completely Dis-functional and Dead

    1

This mic hasn't worked since the day I open the packaging. I have bought new batteries, used it on a Windows 8 laptop, Macbook, and an iPhone. So the only explination that I can think of is that I received a brand new mic that cannot function. I am extremely displeased.

Can I use SR44 batteries with it? I've been using LR44, but my office provided the SR44s, so I'm wondering if I can use those instead. How long do you estimate the different type of batteries last?

    Ioana

Yes you may. You may find helpful information here: https://blog.audio-technica.com/audio-solutions-question-of-the-week-how-do-i-install-the-battery-in-the-atr3350is-lav-microphone/

I am trying to shoot video on my Nikon D5100 DSLR and use an ATR3350 for external mic but the sound is only recording the left channel. Every where I read, it says it is a dual mono and supposed to do both left and right channels. Is that for all the ATR3350's or just newer ones? How can I get mine to work? Do I need some sort of adapter? Thanks very much for your help.

Hi, I bought 3 ATR3350 microphones for an interview project. I want to plug in the microphone to my Windows 10 computer. But it clearly does not work. What do I do wrong? I and my collegues need to start using them urgently! Microphone is new and thus has a new battery. It is ON. I have tried selecting both "microphone" and "line" entry when my laptop asks me to choose which entry it is that I put in the mini-jack entry.

First question; How are you connecting (3) 3.5mm connections to the computer? Second question; Are you plugging into a MIC level input, a LINE level input, or a communications port?

    ATUS_Specialist3

Is the output line-level or balanced?

    mrb

Neither. The signal is a dual-mono MIC level.
