    Very Great Mic!

This is my main performace mic. I am a vocalist for a metal band so it takes a beating when it's on stage with me. This mic is very durable, with great sound quality. Not crystal clear, but definitely great. I also sing into this mic and it sounds great through the PA. Overall a fantastic mic for the money.

  • Q & A

hello, I bought this mic(mb1k) 2 yr ago i think, from the start is sounded too quiet so i used another mic, but that mic broke(it was a cheap one like 10$) and now i want to make this mic work well so the question is: This mic needs phanthom power, if it does then a BEHRINGER UM2 is good for this mic(i am planning to buy a audio interface but i need one cheap under 50$ so if you want can you recommend one(better then the one i specified, mind that i am in Romania))?

You may contact your local Audio-Technica offices for further assistance.

Since this mic is discontinued, is there an equivalent in your current mics, I really love the high output/ low feedback this mic has in a live setting. Much more than the mb3.

The closest performance would be the PRO31 microphone.

Microphone AUX Compatibility Short version: Will this dynamic microphone work if I connect it to a PC using a passive XLR to AUX adapter? Long version: Is it possible to connect a dynamic microphone, like the MB1k, directly to the microphone input on a PC without using any kind of active adapters that transform USB power into Phantom power, or any kind of mixers, since this microphone does not require Phantom power and has low enough impedance to run just like any other microphone that comes with headsets?

Since you are located in Latvia, should you experience any issue with an Audio-Technica Product, or if you need technical or pre-sales assistance, you will need to contact Audio-Technica Europe at: -‎ - However, to connect a dynamic microphone to a Windows PC: • Visit the following web address to "Connect a microphone, Music Player, or other Audio Device to your Computer" - • Pay close attention to "To Connect a Microphone to your Computer" and "Microphone Boost". • Additionally, being that the MB1K is a Dynamic Microphone, it should be no more than 8" away from your mouth during use. • With the "Microphone Boost" enabled, and proper volume setting, you should get a clear green-level indication in the Recording Tab of the Sound Properties. You should get a significant amount of bars in the level indication, not just one, when tapping the microphone. Please do not confuse "playback" with "playthrough". "Playback" means that after a sound is recorded, it will play-back through your computer. "Playthrough" means hearing audio straight through the computer, regardless of recording. Computers are NOT configured to be "playthrough" devices, but they will "playback" when configured properly. A good example of a playthrough device is a PA System or Vocal Amplifier. Thanks!
