this microphone is used on a Macbook pro and is excellent.

I record audio for the book I am writing and use the computer to transcribe it. The clear undistorted recording leads to almost flawless reproduction on the page. I have also used the mic to record audio from speakers of very old records and again the results are excellent. Pick your recording environment carefully.

Stay away from this if you have windows 10

I spent a lot of money on this, and the quality has always been poor. Volume levels are very low even if you talk into the microphone at very close range. The only fix is to digitally up the volume with all the hiss and hum that this brings with it. It turns out it's a windows driver issue, and audio-technica have completely failed to provide a replacement driver. Quite frankly, I feel as though I've had my money stolen from me.

Stay away if you are using windows 10

Was a great mic when I first bought it and used it with windows 8. After uppgrading to windows 10 the sound quality is really bad. It still "works" but the recorded volume is extremely low. If you raise the volume, the noise will get so high that the recording is trash. Many people have complained about this, but no action is made by Audio Technica or Microsoft.

First off, I am not a professional in this field. In fact this is the most expensive microphone that I have ever used. However that means I went into this blind and I have a pretty different perspective in this field. This prouduct was very easy to use. I just plugged it in and it worked. I use the microphone for some YouTube videos and it was very simple to use in every program. Just to test, I I tried it out in the windows camera app as well as some apps like skype and google hangouts. In those programs you're not really going to want to buy a mic this expensive and you may want to go for something cheaper. In the end this is an easy and good sounding mic that is a great choice if your just starting out.

Well, let me start by sharing... I owned a Music Store in the late 70s early 80s- We sold Audio Technica products even back then... I'm a Professional Musician, Producer, Multi-Instrumentalist... One has to step back from the instantaneous, social media- bash, dash, "hecto-confusing", gratification/confusion World we now live in... By stepping back... remember what you paid for this mic... It's well worth the admission , the set up ( plug and play), and the ever hanging ways to records music and voice. This , considering it's price, really checks all of the boxes... Enjoy your time, enjoy your music and enjoy LIFE :-) Thx AT- good Mic at this price point!!!

This is one of the best usb mics on the market. I use this microphone to do voice overs and a twitch talk show. I love it, it's easy to use and has no static like the Bule yeti.

I've used this Microphone for three years now and love it! It makes recording my acoustic guitar fun and easy. I aim it at the 12 fret, about 10 inches away and its magic everytime! This microphone showed me that you dont need to spend $2K to get high quality!

Hi there! I purchased the AT2020 in January 2015. Recently, it is suddenly producing much static and where I normally have clean room tone, now requiring more editing. Have you seen this happen before? Is it the cable or time for a new mic?

Hello, I own an AT2020, I've had it since 2010 and now, with the new mac update (High Sierra), it stopped working. What should I do? I need this microphone for work.

Does this mic require any downloaded drivers to work? I've had one for a while and have never needed to install any drivers, but I'll be switching to a new PC soon and didn't know if I needed to download anything to get it to install properly.

    Okay Sky

Thank you for your inquiry. The microphone uses the USB audio codec that is part of the operating system. A special driver is not necessary.

I would like to use this with my Canon 80D. Is there an adaptor that will work that goes from the microphone USB to a 3.5 mm diameter plug, which is the mic input on the camera?

    Linda O

Thank you for your inquiry. No there is not.

    AudioSolutionsManager

can this mic be used as a boom in video productions for dialogue?

    Les

As a side address microphone, the AT2020USB would not serve your intended application as well as a microphone designed for that application such as a front address condenser stick microphone or a shotgun microphone. Please contact our Audio Solutions Department at (330) 686-2600 ext 5000 or at audio-solutions@atus.com for assistance with this.

Is there anyway to not use the usb connecter and run it through an audio interface ?

    Tyler

Thanks for your inquiry. Unfortunately there isn't a way to do so. I would recommend you to return the AT2020USB and get the AT2020 which has the regular XLR connector. This way you can connect to an interface.

Couple of days my PC started to decect this Microphone as "USB PnP Sound Device". It was "AT2020 USB +" before. There are no drivers or something I can download. What should I do? I tried plugging-unplugging and deleting it in a device manager

    Winternacht

Windows updated the USB CODEC the microphone uses and this is normal.

    ATUS_Specialist3

I recently purchase an AT2020USB, but I find that randomly throughout my recordings the mic stops working. The light remains on and my computer never stops seeing the device as plugged in and available, however the recording software stops picking up audio and the people on the other end of any conversations I may be having (say on SKYPE) can no longer hear me. I am running Windows 10. Any thoughts?
