    Soid mic !!

    5

This mic is easily one of the best mics I've ever used. I was trepidatious on what the quality would be because of the price range, but I was totally blown away. Being a metal vocalist who combines heavy and clean vocals, having a mic that can do the job for both styles is very important; and finding one that won't kill your wallet is equally as important. When I'm not recording in someone else's studio, this is my go-to for all my vox work.

    Great sound, sturdy design

I use this pretty much exclusively for ways in which it was not intended to be used with most of my recordings being of musicians performing outside in locations with water hazards, awkward placements and the general exposure to the elements. Creates a beautiful, big sound that leaves me totally satisfied, including excellent instrument reproduction and glorious vocals.

    Well Designed Multi-Pattern Condenser

    5

This microphone meets the expected versatily of a multi-pattern microphone with a sound quality that can be compared to its higher cost counterpart. Polar pattern, low-cut, and pad setting on this microphone can be changed easily without using a tool, and it fits nicely on its shockmount.

can i use this mic for podcast?

    clare

    Yes you may.

    Brent

At work I have a few of these AT2050's to use for recording podcasts. I'm currently using a Dragon Pad pop filter but I'd like a better looking solution to block out plosives. Is there a recommended pop foam windscreen to use for this microphone? I was hoping to find one made by Audio-Technica. Also, would a windscreen, being thicker than a dragon pad, affect the audio in any way? (I'm new to recording so forgive the naivety.)

Does the at2050 come in a matched pair

    Killer

Thank you for your inquiry. They are not sold as a matched pair.

So when I go to attach the AT8458 shock mount to the microphone stand itself, do i just screw it on or do I attach the 5/8"-27 to 3/8"-16 threaded adapter to the end of the microphones boom (the end facing me that holds the mic) then screw on the AT8458 shock mount?

    Michae White

If your microphone stand you are connecting the microphone mount to is 5/8-27" threading, you may remove the adapter but if the microphone stand is 3/8-16" threading, you may either put the adapter on the stand threading first or leave it in the threading of the mount.

    ATUS_Specialist3

What boom stand is suggested to use this condenser? Or does it already come with one?

    SneakyViking

You may connect the included AT8458 shock mount to any standard 5/8-27" threaded microphone stand.

    ATUS_Specialist3

How do you properly insert the mic into the shockmount? Do you just slide it in or remove elastics on shockmount first?

    Tim

The microphone will slide into the shock mount and the elastic bands will hold the microphone.

    ATUS_Specialist3

What accesories and other products should I purchase to maximize the use of this particular microphone?

    Emily

It all depends on how you want to use the microphone. You may plug the microphone into a proper microphone preamp and if you are using the microphone for vocals, you may use a pop filter or windscreen.

I purchased one AT2050 several years ago. If I buy another now will they be compatible with one another to work as a stereo pair?

    GeorgeIP

Audio-Technica Quality Control has such a high tolerance that no consecutive serial numbers will work as a stereo pair.

How do I need to set the switches on this month for operation with my Electro Voice powered mixer

    David

Thank you for your inquiry. Set the pattern to cardioid, the pad to 0dB and the roll off to flat.

    AudioSolutionsManager

Hello! I purchased the AT2050 a few years ago and we only used it once to record. After that, I tried to use it and it does not work. It has no damage, never been dropped, etc. It just won't produce any amplification through my Yamaha Stagepass 500. My purpose is to mic my elementary school choir. I do not have a manual or any instructions. Can you tell me which input to use; which settings for the mic. Low cut or no? -10db or 0? Finally, is there a way to unscrew the mic and check for any disconnected wiring? I do not have teacher funds to repair it but hope I can try on my own. Sincerely, Frustrated Music Teacher
