MsPinky313 is a dynamic creator of game streams (Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Minecraft, etc.), podcasts (Say That Again, RealOnesGaming) and more – content that has earned her a loyal following from her fans, the Pink Squad. She is also our first Creator of the Month! We sat down with Pinky recently to talk about the many facets of her work and learn how high-quality audio gear helps her accomplish all that she does.
How did you get started in gaming and content creation?
I've always had a love for video games, ever since Super Mario World on Super Nintendo. So having a background in television and radio production, I said why not put the two things that I'm passionate about together! I came across Twitch around 2015 and watched some of my favorite creators play and stream my favorite games, like Minecraft. So I started my gaming content and established my community, the Pink Squad, in August 2016 on Twitch.

You play a few different games on your stream. Do you have a favorite? How do the different games affect your stream and your interaction with viewers?
I do play many different games! I don’t want to be playing just one game forever, lol. I play a lot of Call of Duty games, Knockout City, and Minecraft. I play The Sims 4 here and there as well. My community loves the different games that I play. Some of them necessarily wouldn’t play the type of games I play before watching me play. I give them a different perspective on how the game can be played. A good example is Minecraft.
What are the most rewarding and most difficult aspects of your work?
The most rewarding aspect of my work is that I can make someone laugh and feel good at that moment while watching my content. The most difficult, I would say, is time, lol – there’s not enough of it.
You create a wide variety of content from game streams to podcasts to product reviews and more. How does a high-quality microphone help you in all your pursuits and what microphone features are most important to you?
One of the main reasons why I’m in this industry is because I want to be heard. I need my community, my audience, and new people seeing my content to be able to hear me, sound and clear! Audio-Technica has those products and my AT2020USB-X mic allows that to happen!

How about headphones? What are the features you value?
Being that I’m deaf in my left ear and that I wear glasses, I need a good clear sound and comfortable ear padding. If I can’t have both, I don’t want it. My ATH-M50x provides both, and I love them!

In everything you do, you seem more focused on building a community rather than simply gaining an audience. Why is community building so important to you? Do you cultivate separate communities for your many projects or try to create content that will appeal to a single community?
Because I believe in love and family, and many of us aren’t so great to have either, and I don’t want anyone to feel unloved or alone. I want people to know when they come to a live stream or watch my content that it was made with love and with that person in mind. I want people to laugh and smile and to forget that problem, issue, or concern for that moment and enjoy life. I focus on cultivating the Pink Squad Friends community, there is no separation among platforms, it's just us together as one. A family.
