How do I ensure my online purchase is genuine?

To ensure your Audio-Technica product is genuine and your purchase is protected we have an authorised reseller program. This provides anybody buying an Audio-Technica product within the EU the confidence that it will be guaranteed authentic and covered by Audio-Technica's 2 year warranty.

Counterfeit product

Like many popular brands Audio-Technica can from time to time be the victim of counterfeiting. Our authorised reseller program eliminates this possibility but there are often sellers from outside the EU that attempt to sell within the EU without authorisation. You are advised to be vigilant on platforms such as eBay and Amazon and aware of this possibility.

Buying from Authorised Resellers

This will ensure you receive a genuine product and receive high levels of pre and post sales service. When you buy from an authorised reseller, whether at a store or online, you can be sure you're buying a genuine, factory-new product. Authorised resellers will have access to the latest product knowledge, will have our full support and be able to offer a full warranty service in the event of problems.

Buying safely from Amazon, eBay, etc.

While Amazon themselves are an authorised online reseller many resellers who sell through Amazon are not. When purchasing, it is important to note where the product is being shipped from and sold by. This is stated clearly in the Amazon seller information. Generally speaking if you cannot find an address in the ‘seller information’ then we strongly advise you do not purchase from this source. If the seller is from outside the EU we cannot guarantee authenticity of supply and therefore cannot guarantee that this product is genuine.

If in doubt, please ask

If you are in any doubt about any Audio-Technica re-seller please check with us first. We will be delighted to help in any way we can.

Understand The Risks

If you purchase Audio-Technica products from an unauthorised supplier you risk the possibility of receiving faulty, counterfeit or even stolen goods with little hope of obtaining warranty support in the event the product develops a fault. These goods could possibly be either:

    • Purchased via a grey secondary market (often from outside Europe that will not have warranty cover).

    • Counterfeit goods, not produced by Audio-Technica.

    • Damaged, defective or so-called “B” grade stock.

    • Stolen goods.

Many of these unauthorised resellers list products via Amazon Marketplace, eBay and similar sales outlets, but there are also more established retail stores who obtain stock via these unauthorised channels. If you are in any doubt, please contact Audio-Technica prior to making your purchase, look for the Authorised reseller logo or check our dealer databases of authorised resellers.

In addition, Audio-Technica strongly advises customers to think twice before buying products where the price appears unusually low. This is very often an indication that the product is from an unauthorised source.

Fraudulent websites

Please be aware of fraudulent sites that claim to be run by Audio-Technica or that use our products without our permission. These sites are not affiliated with us in any way.

If you use a fraudulent site, your individual information may be used against you or you may not receive the goods you have paid for. We advise you not to access fraudulent websites, enter your personal details, place orders or make payments.

Fraudulent websites are characterised by

    • Low prices.

    • The payment method is only bank transfer (in some cases card payment and cash on delivery can be used).

    • The name of the bank account is the name of the individual.

    • There is no telephone number in the contact details, or there is only a mobile phone number in the site.

    • A free email address is used for the contact details.

    • The address of the management company is disguised. The location of the company is disguised or does not exist.

In case of damage

If you are a victim of fraud, please contact the police as soon as possible. If you have paid by bank transfer or credit card, please contact your bank or credit card company.  Make sure it is a legitimate address (URL).
