Unfortunately we do not recommend the AT-XP7 for use with scratching; due to the design of the cartridge, we would only recommend using the cartridge for back-queuing.  In exchange for this limitation, the cartridge is then able to produce a much faster transient response which provides more accurate detail from the vinyl, as the cartridge is much less stiff and can therefore move much more accurately in the grooves.

If scratching is important for your DJ performances then we would recommend using an alternative cartridge.  At this time, Audio-Technica does not manufacture a suitable scratching cartridge.
