Pairing ATH-M50xBT2 headphones to Bluetooth devices

Following on from the success of the ATH-M50xBT, the ATH-M50xBT2 are the latest wireless over-ear headphones to blend the sonic signature of the M50x headphones with an on-the-go design utilising Bluetooth technology.

These headphones are very similar in design and build quality to the original ATH-M50x. The main differences are the added power switch, charging port, mic and controls on the left earcup for answering phone calls and controlling music, and the 3.5 mm detachable smartphone cable as opposed to the 2.5 mm locking cable with the wired ATH-M50x. When the smartphone cable is plugged into the headphones, the controls on the earcup and the Bluetooth functionality is disabled.

Audio Solutions Question of the Week: How Do I Pair my ATH-M50xBT Headphones to a Bluetooth Device?

Pairing with a Bluetooth device

To connect the product to a Bluetooth device, the product needs to pair (register) with the device. It is also advisable to familiarise yourself with the user manual for your Bluetooth device before attempting to pair your ATH-M50xBT2 headphones. Make certain the Bluetooth device you are going to connect the headphones to is not currently paired to any other Bluetooth devices then follow the below steps:

  • Place the Bluetooth device within 1 m (3.3') of the product. You may wish to wear the product during the pairing in order to hear the voice guidance.

  • Starting with the product turned off, turn it on. The indicator lamp will light in white, and then flash.

  • Use your Bluetooth device to begin the pairing process and search for the product. When your Bluetooth device finds the product, if it has as screen “ATH-M50xBT2” will be displayed on the device.

  • Select “ATH-M50xBT2” to pair the product and your Bluetooth device.

  • Some devices may ask for a passkey. In this case, enter “0000” if requested. The passkey may also be called a passcode, PIN code, PIN number, or password.

  • The voice guidance will play the message “Bluetooth connected”, and the indicator lamp will flash slowly in white. This indicates pairing was successfully completed.

  • If the headphones do not appear as an available device in the Bluetooth Settings of your device on your first attempt, turn the Bluetooth OFF on your device and back ON again. Then repeat the process.
